Does unlocking the debug console make achievements not work?
I played through the first few chapters of the game without the debug console and I got 7 achievements. Later on I wanted to keep track of the games FPS so I unlocked the debug console and activated the show FPS command. I just beat the game yesterday on Survival difficulty but the achievement didnt register, also the achievement for burning 3 bodies at one time which I have done like a million times during the game also didnt register. And some other things as well. So I'm wondering if unlocking the console period will disable the achievements? I'm going to try redoing the last chapter with the console disabled and see what happens. Has anyone else had any issues with their achievements not unlocking with or without the console? And just using the show FPS command?

Yes.
If you enable the console it disables achievements.

It's easy to delete the console and you'll gain achievements back. You can simply add the command you want to use to the game's cfg file instead of using the console.

That way you can still get achievements and gain the benefits of uncapping the frame rate and such.

ok thanks. i thought it was if you were just using cheat commands. sucks that it disables them for everything.

Is there an achieve for chapter 1 completetion? I completed it and I got nothing...and I have the uncap fps thing via the set launch options thing.

I dont think you get an achievement for completing chapter 1. If you have the debug console unlocked with the set launch options however you will not register any achievements. I beat the game yesterday with the debug console on showing the FPS, missed a bunch of achievements, and just now I disabled everything, restarted the last chapter and like 15 achievements just registered as soon as the chapter loaded that I should have gotten.

So it does "unlock" but it unlocks if you kill the console?

There are not achievements for finishing chapters.
There are a few for boss fights, but the rest of the achievements are actually built around accomplishing specific goals.

There are chapter specific achievements, but they only unlock if you accomplish the goal they set.

yeah any achievements you got when you had the console running will unlock once you disable it.

You can enable the FPS unlock and continue getting achievements if you put the line:

r_swapinterval "-1"

at the bottom of the configuration file:

user/Saved Games/TangoGameworks/The Evil Within/base/the evilwithinConfig

Certain other unlocks will not work if you put them in the configuration but I can confirm this one does. I got the stealth kill achievement the other day with both Flawless Widescreen and the above 60 FPS unlock enabled.

EDIT:
I should note that the game sometimes removes the line from the CFG file. I'm not sure why or when it decides to do that but if the game suddenly feels like its gone back to 30 FPS you might want to check the file again. I actually created a shortcut to it on the desktop so I don't have to keep openning the folders to get to it.

Did you set it to read only? Normally if you don't, the game will overwrite settings in config files.
