The Executioner... Short but sweet
Finished the DLC... it was worth $5... but thats about it. Not a single line of new voice dialogue and not much new story, though the concept is interesting. The story actually takes place after the main game. Mobius has set up a new experiment to try and figure out how Ruvik was able to escape in Leslie's body. They place a father and daughter into STEM along with some subjects they still have.

The combat is simple, but fun. You smack away at Haunted until they are stumbled at which point you can perform a finishing move animation or grab them and toss them about. Near the save room is a wall safe where you can upgrade stats (health, speed etc) and purchase new weapons and ammo. You spend coins you can find in the environment or from defeating enemies.

The game's main objective is to defeat bosses to unlock the next document, vision and boss fight. It also contains a portal you can use to an arena fight where you can grind for coins.

This is neither long nor difficult. It took me an hour and a half and that was with a lot of grinding in the combat arena and I died... 0 times. Part of what makes it easy is that enemies drop health kits from time to time if your health gets too low.

Another positive is that there is a mysterious new arena unlocked for NG +. I've just now started NG + so I have yet to see whats up.

Wow... first death on the secret unlockable arena battle... its a ridiculous over-the-top brawl. So far its my favorite part of this DLC... actually challenging.

BTW... protip... you can leap backwards and to the sides by holding a direction and tapping the sprint key. Great for getting in smacking an enemy and quickly dodging their retaliation swipes.

When starting NG +

After defeating the first two THREE bosses you will unlock the double doors and a cutscene showing a new boss area opening. Make sure not to go through the double doors as you wont be able to backtrack. The new boss area is on the second floor, behind the doors that hid the blade trap in the main game. Defeat the enemy and you will gain access to a Golden Hammer which causes enemies to drop more coins (awesome!). It even has a little crown on it.

After defeating the Amalgam Alpha boss and continuing on to the next save room you will be informed the final arena battle is available. Can't miss it... its right on the wall in the save room.
Good luck... I died about 10 times in this secret arena. Its brutal as hell.

There is a final unlockable if you beat the above room but I have yet to beat it so no idea what it is. The difficulty spike is insane. Literally, the ONLY spot I've died in this entire DLC so far is that final challenge room.

So you don't need to beat Joseph?

I'm on the second floor of the manor and can't find anything? =/

EDIT: nvm, I beat Joseph and it appeared. So you need to do the first 3 bosses.

Why won't this run in Letterbox format?

I have it set to run in Letterbox format but yet it refuses to. As soon as this DLC starts, Letterbox becomes disabled.

Does anybody else have this problem?

The main game and the other two DLC'S run in Letterbox with no problem whatsoever.

Probably because they realized that whilst it is a dumb idea in third person, it is even more of a dense idea in first person.

If that doesn't drive it home... the ending sure does.
