i would buy it only for a big discount! nothing groundbreaking to see here.
Sounds like someone should've picked easy mode.
But in all seriousness, this game is supposed to be hard. You're supposed to die a lot. They put so much effort into making so many different death animations, they want you to see them all! Which is why you get checkpoints so often.
And for the record, unless you're on a new game +, you should be running away from Laura every time you encounter her. Don't waste your ammo unless you have the rpg and REALLY want that achievement.
As for the story, it's personally my favorite part of the game. There are so many theories out there about it since it isn't entirely clear, they leave things a bit ambiguous at times. I found it very interesting though, and found myself wanting to learn more about what's going on.
To me personally Alan Wake is the pinnacle of horror-type storytelling. One may argue that it's not that scary, but to me neither is TEW, and at least AW goes for a Stephen King-like story.
TEW is perhaps indeed more like David Lynch, as mentioned above
