Any good Survival Horror games you recommend?

I love this time of year. The weather starts cooling off and cool scary movies and games come out. In anticipation of the Evil Within I was thinking of playing through Dead Space. What about you folks? Any cool (survival) horror games you plan on playing this month?

I know this is a tad off-topic, I hope its not TOO off topic and if people feel it is I'll go ahead and delete it. I think it would just be a bit nice to talk about something other than the system requirements. 12 of the 15 topics on the front page at the time of me writing this are some variation of system requirement discussions.

You should get Final Fantasy VII if you haven't played that already. It has some really scary monsters and the villain Sephiroth is really scary as well. Definitely one of the scariest games ever.

Haunting Ground on PS2. Always wanted to see a sequel for that lesser known title. Had some interesting gameplay concepts and a loyal dog companion.

Couldn't disagree more, at least for the first Dead Space. While it does teeter at the edge of Survival Horror, about to step over into Action Horror, I feel it checks all the survival horror boxes. I feel the same about Resident Evil 4. Either way, survival horror or not I think they're fantastic horror games.

Couldn't disagree more, at least for the first Dead Space. While it does teeter at the edge of Survival Horror, about to step over into Action Horror, I feel it checks all the survival horror boxes. Alien Isolation is awesome. I think it's going to be way more scary than The Evil Within and probably the scariest game ever made so far from the reviews. Maybe not a better game over all but definitly more scary. East Japanese horror style with goofy monstera with 20 arms and little girl heads with hair over their eyes is maybe scary if you are 10 years old, otherwise it's just kind of creepy.

The reviews for isolation haven't been very good so far. That and it sounds like a good chunk of the game involves dealing with androids instead of the Alien itself.

Although this does kind of make me worried that
A: Survival Horror just isn't going to do well in mainstream anymore.
B: Evil Within will get similar medioce reviews.

With that said, Evil Within is also a very different kind of Survival Horror experience. We'll find out soon how well it fares.

I knew someone would bring up either the gamespot or IGN review and I tried to understand their perspective. I can't wait to play both games so lets just get that out of the way, I'm a little short to pick up the Evil Within but I assure I like this game also and the idea behind it, I'm more worried about PC optimization to be honest. I'm not sure what is up with gamespot and IGN but if horror is up your alley I really recommend checking out all the other reviews, everyone seems to disagree with those two, including youtube popular reviewers. Of course, I am always for taking reviews lightly and COMPLETELY agree with you, both are different, I just meant to say that Alien Isolation will be more scary but at the same time not as good of a game as Evil Within, if that makes any sense? lol
