Game doesn't work properly
Hey, I'm currently having problems running this game on win 11, pc constantly working on high temperatures, gpu and cpu can reach 80-82° and performance load reaches 80-95% on cpu, gpu and ram, not to mention the air from the pc's coolers are hot. I have no such issues with other games (cyberpunk, hellblade 2, baldur's gate 3, etc) and the game worked fine with my previous pc on win 10. I'm afraid to run this game so it won't burn my pc. Can someone help to solve this problem?

maybe start at some old settings like
monitor=60Hz
fps=60
resolution=1920x1080

if that works with temps okay, then go higher with hz and fps then resolution

if you have an nvidia card, try the app settings for the game. maybe those settings run better.

Tried doing that and only difference was changing the resolution from 2k to 1920x1080, no changes with nvidia app, cpu and gpu dropped only to 70°. This is one of the worst optimization I've seen:kratos_facepalm:. Thank you for advice
I have win 11. cpu 3in the 30s and gpu in the 40s
but I do not have your unknown hardware or graphic settings

I have 4070 ti super
i7 14700kf
64 gb ram
And 2k monitor 144 hz
2014 game. maybe does not know what to do with 2024 hardware.

I have an "old" 3060ti and i7-11700.
so maybe try turning off some of the new 4xxx settings/features.

overclocking?

I had a number of windows hardware errors that started recently. installed the nvidia update in dec. wiped the driver with ddu then clean installed driver again. hardware errors stopped. try that or wait for the next driver update.

maybe someone else with a 4xxx card will read this thread and advise.
would expect your hardware to run a 2014 game without this heating issue.

the end of my the evil withinconfig.cfg file after the key bindings:
r_swapInterval "-1"
r_windowHeight "1080"
r_windowWidth "1920"
r_mode "19"
r_screenGrainAmount "1"
r_toneGamma "2.52"
r_lpp_SMAA "1"
r_lpp_FXAA "0"
megashadow_resolutionScale "1"
con_IconWindowY "24"
con_IconWindowX "24"

maybe try the 3060ti settings on your 4xxx card

game runs at cpu 35 gpu 35 gpu hot spot 50 on my machine

Nope, didn't do overclocking, don't plan to in the few years at least
Played a little with cfg file, had everything the same as you except r_mode and resolution, changed to your settings, run the game, game opens in cropped screen and a bit blurry, tried changing resolution in game settings to 2k and at least cpu temperature dropped to 60, gpu temp 1 and 2 dropped to 60 too, but temp 3 still on 70. Gonna play with settings and nvidia app more later, thanks
r_swapInterval "-1"(uncaps frames) and force 60fps Via the GPU control panel.

This will have better performance than default 60fps cap.......

FXAA can have issues in this game and the game can be very blurry.
So do not use it.

Pc gaming wiki recommends creating a 1GB cache folder for Id Tech engine 5 games.
Which is a good idea to do.

I think they are meant to be created automatically but likely newer hardware does not create them.

60 Celsius is fine for a GPU.

That said a RTX 4070 should not use much % if you only have 60 fps cap.

You can play above the 60fps cap with r_swapInterval "-1" but it speeds up certain enemy animations and some sections can become harder or not doable at too high fps.

Yeah, I don't use FXAA in this game
Even tho I switched to 60 fps cap everytime I check app overlay - it says the game runs in 140-144 fps, funny

Don't worry, no problem
not only is your game running too fast,
you read the forum too fast. 8-)

game running way too fast and too hot:thor_lul:
What can I say, I'm eager to deal with this problem
Don't run the game unlocked. Limit FPS to 60. And especially try it with DXVK.
This PC version is a mess. There are multiple adjustments you can make.

A mess is an understatement for this version and it unlocked fps itself:thor_lul:. Yeah, I'll limit it to 60 and look in this DXVk app. Thanks
