[SOLVED] X360 Controller not working!
Ok, so I just started the game using a wired Xbox 360 Controller for Windows and it works fine until the "new game" menu. Then the controller just stops working. I can still navigate through the interface and play the game using keyboard and mouse, but come on! And yes, the controller works fine in all other games.

I did a quick search and found some other people complaining about the same issue, which seems to be going on for quite some time (more than a year!), but I got no luck trying the workarounds. I'm seriously considering a refund.

Any tips, guys?

EDIT

Problem solved. Reboot Windows did the trick for me!

You don't have any other input/controller managing stuff running right? I use a wired 360 for everything and I've never personally had that issue ever with TEW1.

Did you make sure the controller was plugged in before launching? Did you try replugging it in when the issue occurs? Did you make sure Steam's controller crap settings crap isn't doing anything weird?

Well, I think I just fixed it. All I did was reboot Windows and voilà, the controller is working perfectly fine now.

Erebus and holychair, thank you for your time! Really appreciated. Problem solved!

I had a similar problem where my controller worked fine until the "loading profile data" prompt, then it would not work on the Title Menu at all. I managed to fix my issue by going into Steam, Settings, Controller, General Controller Settings an making sure "Xbox Configuration Support" was checked on. Leaving a comment just in case this solution might help anyone with the problem I had.

this actually made things worse for me and caused my controller to not function in game at all. i had same problem where it would work so far then not work on main menu.

Try disabling steam controller support completely for the game?

Chiming in to say - the same issue is happening with the release of the game on Good Old Games (GOG). I had the same problem when I played this on steam. For me its after the computer goes to sleep/hibernate, then I wake it up, try to play TEW, it recognizes the controller buttons at the main menu but stops after that, won't respond in-game. Again, its happened in the Steam version and now again in GOG. I have to fully restart my computer to fix it.

Probably a stability problem with the lower power states for you. Might error slightly some Windows component and then when the game calls upon stuff and does it's own weird stuff the ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan and it breaks.
