I'm garbage at this game, any pro tips?
I suck at survival horror games, but I really want to get into The Evil Within. Im enjoying it so far, but I'm getting my ass handed down to me. Can anyone recommend some tips? I'm hearing that the pistol is the best weapon to upgrade, but others are saying the crossbow. Thanks!

Be as stealthy as you can, that's what I did.

you find thhe most ammo for pistol so upgrading fully i would recommend after 3rd chapter the game switches gears and becomes shooter freindly.upgrade health damage, pistol then go shotgun and bow, rifle was last on my list and theres usually a trick to save ammo on bosses look for them...tip...look for little statues...by no means pro tips just what i did to play shooter style

Crossbow: Multiple enemies & bosses

Pistol: Survival (save as much ammo as you can)

Shotgun: Useful for situations but not too important

And like the game says, sometimes running is the best strategy.

Sometimes not though

I never sneak in this game though. Either I'm running all the way through or I'm just taking them on with the pistol and crossbow.

Save ammo Do meele although its not that effect but still hit and walk away if theres one enemy do again those normal enemies have same pattern of attack , remember ammo is your only friend... be stealthy specially in chapter 2 and 3and watch out for traps they takes lot of health

Stealth is good approach. Don't hesitate to use meele (wooden torches, hatchets) you find, they're one hit killers for normal enemies. Aim to the glowing eyes of enemies, that easily triggers headshots and you don't need to burn those decapped bodies. Save shotguns and cool arrows for hordes of normal enemies or hard enemies.

if you're chased by two or more enemies, try and take 1 out, risk running up to the dead body and waiting for as many enemies to reach you in melee range then light the dead body with a match. It kills anyone within a small radius of the body.

Also works well with Hay stacks, especially since they bounce around when you run into them

Thanks for the tips everyone. I've been using them all. I'm having some trouble right now in chapter 6 though, in that segment where you need to fend off the Haunted while your buddy unlocks two doors. The space is so small that it's hard to maneuver without getting grabbed. I'm low on gear, so I can't craft any frost arrows to smash multiple enemies. Any tips on how to get through this section?

Every time you die you need to remember why that happened and try to make sure you don't die the same way again. You should improve the more times you die if that makes sense.

Well in this case I died due to poor level design, which unfortunately is out of my control. Lol
this game is obnoxiously designed. expect to die a lot becoz the game just forces you to learn the hardway instead of putting intelligent clues that allow the player to figure things out.
