game starts but then black screen with sound

the game starts up normal i see all the peop;e associated with the game then when it goes to main menu the screen goes black but i still hear the menu screen

i followed trouble shoot for screen size issue with no success

Put this: +com_skipIntroVideo 1

in the launch properties and see if it helps.

yea ill need more direction on putting that in start properties. i have been further troubleshooting and i noticed hdr being on when game started up, im not sure if tew is hdr but based on release date i would assume no. not knowing if my windows 10 hdr was over riding the game i turned it off. same issue as before, intro ads play but now the epso warning comes up after but loading indicater does not swirl its frozen and you can hear the menu sounds and can move the controlls but still no visuals

go to the evil within in your steam libary, right click and select properties. click on the set launch options and enter +com_skipIntroVideo 1 this worked for me.

nope didnt work, it now skips the intro video and goes straight from load trademark screen to black then loaads in sound, and i can with controller hear the selector change on the menu but no visuals

whats your pc specs? did you try updating your gpu to the latest drivers?

Specs: 7700k/Kraken cooled, MSI M7 mobo, 16gb 3200 kingston, gtx 1080x, SSD OS drive, 2tb hybrid game drive, seasonic platnuim 660,

found 2 more fixess maybe tney would work for you. someone said they fix it with the optimization nvidia geforce experience. or right click the evil within go to properties then go to local files, then click browse local files, right click evil within applcation go to properties and disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

Honestly cant remember, and have played lots of games since then, I think at the time i was doing a replay on 1 anxious for 2 release coming up. I played 1 on xbox ,but was doing my replay on pc. so the issue was new for me. Im thinking i did, but i couldnt tell you what did it.

Hey guys i just tried the nvidia Geforce experience fix and it worked or me all i did it launched it from there and it worked perfectly

I had similar issues and fixed it by simply pressing alt+enter, which finally showed the game menu, and then choosing the right resolution for my pc.
