Should I redeem the fighting chance pack that I got, or does it make the game too easy?
I purchased this game through Amazon and got a little piece of paper with a code for the fighting chance pack which includes the following:

Medical kit
Double barrel shotgun
Incendiary agony bolt
Poison agony bolt
Green gel

Are these items that can be obtained otherwise? If this pack makes the game easy mode then I don't want to use it...

It's OK if it's you're first or 2nd play through, especially when you play on harder modes, but I grew to hate it because there's a glitch with the double barrel shotgun staying selected when you switch to single barrel.

Plus the double barrel ends up being weaker due to not being upgradable, and it blows through ammo too fast.

As far as whether it's needed, that depends entirely on player skill and adaptability. Once you know the game well it's not needed at all. There are many people playing on Akumu with no upgrades on the stock game, and some with no keys as well.

If I redeem the fighting chance pack, can I dispose of it if I wish or are the items (like the double barrel shotgun) forever in my inventory?

If you can manage to refund it, Steam won't recognize you as owning it, so in that case I don't think it would still be there.

I'm not talking about getting a refund but rather disposing of the items in-game. Not sure how the game works

As long as Steam has a record of something being bought and not refunded, it will stay in their database, and likely in your game.

Sorry if I'm just being dense here. What I'm trying to ask is, are the items always in your inventory, or can you drop them or something?

Only two of the 5 items can be obtained in the stock game, the Med kits, and the gel. The double barrel shotgun, and incendiary and poison bolts are exclusive to that DLC, and not in the stock game.

If you redeem the DLC code you will have those items show up in your inventory and won't be able to dispose of them. There are also problems even if you try to avoid using them.

Like I said, the double barrel shotgun keeps reappearing in your weapon slot even if you switch to the regular shotgun, which means you have to take time that won't necessarily be afforded to switch back while in game.

Plus having two more crossbow bolt types in your agony ammo rotation means taking valuable time to cycle past them to select other bolts. The poison bolt is also mostly useless.

The annoying thing is, when learning how to play the game, the medkit, gel, and incendiary bolts can be very useful, but the shotgun and poison bolts are more of a hindrance. So I would say avoid redeeming it.

You must be on the wrong forum, because there's no drop item function in this game.

I'm surprised no one has said this yet, but you can remove the items simply by going to your Library in the Steam browser and unchecking the Fighting Chance Pack in the DLC list.

I did that yesterday because it took longer to cycle through my bolts and I kept accidentally killing myself with the fire bolts when I thought I had regular bolts equipped.
