whats the point of maluca fight with zero chaos resistance items?
yeah you can cure the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chaos but its downright stupid when you cant even increase the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ resistance, using a potion is waste of time in this game since ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maluca doing his stupid ass chaos nioh level ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ katana combos in every half a second , if you give a boss with gimmick then let us craft resistance pots in blacksmith or purchase via vendors

You should be able to get a chaos resist necklace or a ring if you kill regular enemies or revenants on the level, though
I will go ahead and say that it's done this way for story purposes. Maluca is your introduction to Chaos - both as a gameplay mechanic for the player and as a major point of interest for Khazan/Blade Phantom that affects their future endeavors. Ergo, it makes sense that reliable sources of Chaos resistance are all past this point (because now you have a full picture of what you're dealing with).

The point is to teach you to parry with guard. All his combos, when he puts sword into sheath can be stoped, if you press guard after glowing signal (Malucas glow little longer, than spark signal on his sword).
By such big chaos damage game showing you, that your current fight tactick is wrong and you need to change something.

played the entire level 2 times start to finish, killed literally all the revenants never dropped one so far

Interesting. I don't remember now if I had the accessory by that time or not. I do remember I had enough potions, though.

Well, if you are struggling so much, just use the fire enhancer and burn him to death.

if you dodge you don't get chaosed. Yes it's a BS mechanics, but the workaround is to simply dodge.
actually did beat him now with 80 chaos res, yea it was doable but still felt stupid, this is something i'm not used to from fromsoft games and funny enough i also just learnt you can actually parry stuff in this game lmao, i though you could only do brink guard/dodge and mikiri counter

The chaos accessories were dropping like candy for me during the level leading up to Maluca. After being loaded up with chaos during the first fight, equipping chaos resistance afterwards sure made a difference.

you are supposed to dodge (should have learned this already, with voibano).
dodging = avoids elemental damage that you otherwise would take by being hit/parrying.

learn his strings, realize which ones inflict chaos and dodge them. its not supposed to be easy. and you definitely don't need chaos resistance gear or pots to beat him. just takes practice

Got him yesterday without any chaos resistance (I didn't have any items) thanks to advice on the forums. There are only three attacks that inflict chaos, one can be blocked on brink to avoid chaos attribute, and the other two are very slow and can be dodged (when he jumps in air).

For me the key was to avoid him breaking my stamina bar, so he won't heal, otherwise I was completely stuck as his heal was greater than my damage.
Guys just use bombs! Fire and electric bombs absolutely destroy him in his chaotic phase. It trivialised the fight but not too much that it felt like it was being cheesed. Dodge his dashing attacks (glows white then stops) as the bombs do serious damage to him. Then fight him normally once that’s ended. I had a harder time with the other bosses than this one.

I hate the unblockable one where he groas and impales you, little tell and I always screw up
You can brink-dodge the slow-mo draw attacks. This gives you room to breathe without getting Chaos'd. His normal katana attacks hurt, but don't build Chaos.

Try to Reflect his jump-in slash to make him back off.

Honestly, use summons if you're seriously not having fun being stuck. It's not against the law. The game puts Revenants everywhere so you can keep upgrading them. It wants you to use them when you get stuck.

Not all of his attacks are imbuyed with Chaos, try to dodge the most dangerous ones to be sure you wont get a lot. The most "flassy" ones are the ones who put more of the effect on you. Brink, counter and deflect the other ones and eventually you will win.
