What is the point of her being in the game? Absolute waste of a character. I still don't understand the augmenting gear feature. Why would I infuse a level 70 into a level 46 and come out with a level 50? Stupid feature in my opinion.

You augment an item because it has desirable attributes. If you don't ever bother rerolling attributes, then sure it's not going to be that useful.

Augmenting gear is there for when you have a certain gear piece or a whole set that you want to keep AND it has the attributes you need.

For example, you have a Level 100 GS of "Unique" tier with the following attributes that you want to keep:

- Attack DMG
- DMG increase
- DMG multiplier increase

During a mission, you find an assortment of "Rare" and "Unique" tier Greatswords, ranging from Level 101 to Level 105, among which is the same GS you're carrying but with completely random attributes. In that case, you just spend all this rubbish to augment your current GS up to level 105.

And on that note, such drastic difference in levels should not even be possible unless you just put on whatever and don't try to engage with the system.

Also, augmenting gear costs Gold and it's dirt cheap. Compared to rerolling attributes, which costs Lacrima and the price increases with each reroll.

It’s impossible to have a greatsword with those substats. That combination is literally impossible

I had Chaos-Ridden Greatsword with these exact attributes.

And even here, you can see that one of the potential replacements for "Frontal Assault: DMG Increase" is "DMG Increase":

Why would it though? I mean it has to be possible except that it'll likely cost millions of lacrima due to how many unnecessary substats you can also get.

hmm. ill have to admit I am wrong but im absolutely floored as to why. must be Mandela effecting myself. I have several weapon sets with dmage% damage multiplier and stamina damage. I didn't want stamina damage but according to the list of possible rerolls I couldn't have anything other than stamina damage affecting stats. clearly I am incorrect as I am looking at it right now in-game, but I don't know what happened here personally

I am incorrect. however, this is the basis for why

here is an armor piece and as you can see there are attributes that simply cannot be rolled in combination with each other. I could have sworn that weapons worked the same way and that the third stat must always be stamina damage related if the other two stats on the weapon were damage and multiplier related

Gear augmentation is poorly explained and does not work well. The level difference between items does not matter, the only relevant attribute is item rarity. You can only use same or higher rarity item to increase level of the augmented item--this changes based on what rarity of item you are augmenting, for example legendary Jar helmets can only have their level increased with epic gear, adding 1 level, and legendary gear, adding 2 levels.

One issue with augmenting your gear for a long time and carrying it with you is that higher item level stats have improved ranges of stats but the item you augment does not change their stat roll as its level increases.
Example hopefully makes it easier to understand: item level 150 will have damage increase % stats with ranges of 2.5% to 5% while level 200 item will have the same stat with range of 2.5% to 6.5%. If you roll maximum roll of 5% on the item level 150 gear and bring it all the way to level 200, the roll will still be 5% while the maximum range is now 6.5%. The cost of rolling stats is more and more expensive and it is hard to re-roll your stats as you level up your item without using those very rare materials to reset re-roll costs. I used made up figures just to illustrate the issue.

Weapons can have 3 offensive stats, so you absolutely can roll flat attack damage, % damage increase, and damage multiplier % increase. Necklace and gloves are another pieces of gear that can have 3 offensive stats I believe.

It is, however, very lacrima hungry to roll these stats, especially if you want them to have decent roll as well.
