Does every boss needs a status effect?
Its been a while since i had some honest fight. Every boss has some annoying status effect or two of them, so even if i block i get punished. Seems like dodges are the only way to play. Every boss handicaps you with something.
I dont mind having such fights sometimes, but EVERY SINGLE BOSS after the tutorial has this.

dodges aren't the only way to play. I used brink guard on 90% of the attacks on basically everyone. sounds like a skill issue.

I use brink guard as well, most of the time. But it does not block status. You stille get rot, poison, shock and burn even if you block. So you slowly die anyway, unless you dodge.

Potions exist though, both to cleanse and to up your resistance :steamfacepalm:

Yeah, but the question is - does EVERY boss needs this? Seems like arteficial difficulty.
Also i cant buy or make a potion to heal plague in my hub for some reason. I only can buy them from a bard in limited stock or find them. And its a common status overall.
So when i ran out of potions my option was only to kill the boss faster then i die of syphilis.

yes, i think it's a good way to force dodging on some attacks. otherwise it would be brink guarding only for all bosses. while the latter bosses do have status effect attacks, they still have plenty of normal attacks you can block, it just adds variety to combat when they have these status effects

Unless it's a multi-hit attack (like what we see with Rangkus/Bringkus) or a particularly powerful one, Brink Guard only lets through a little bit of status build-up so it's not really an issue.

Complete the Bonus Training task for Undead Summoner, where you have to defeat one with a single strike. The reward is "Plague Disruption Parchment", which lets you craft anti-Plague potions.

Besides that, don't forget talismans and armor that offer status resistances. Nomad's Set, for example, grants a flat 250 resist to Plague for only two pieces equipped. Talismans, on the other hand, grant 150 resist, though I haven't found one for Plague yet. Point being, take a look at your equipment if a certain status effect bothers you a lot in a boss fight.

Brink Guard is just the lowest effort way to defend yourself which also damages the enemies health and also lowers their stamina, while you take no damage yourself.
Aka it has 3 weaknesses, status effects, counter attacks and grab attacks.

So either you use other means of avoiding it or you use consumables to remove the effect or you use resistances and enough of other stats to basically make the status effects meaningless.

Transform into your phantom form, detransform. You lose 25% of your bar and gain it back in a short time frame, no more status effects.

Hilariously, when you get to NG+ you don't lose that 25% anymore if you spec into it lol. Costs you 8 skillpoints though.

Wait until you reach bosses that take your stamina away. They are especially "fun"
Yes because it introduces two considerations to the player:

1. Certain attacks generate status despite perfect guarding. You can perfect guard, but should you? This adds some variability to the boss as sometimes you're willing to get the debuff while other time you're not.
2. A reason to use those consumables you horde like they're your precious.

It just adds another wrinkle to the fight. Maybe you don't want that wrinkle in there. That's fair. But at least you know why they made it.

Variability supposed to imply just that, having a variability. When 90% of bosses have the same mechanic - that is not variability.
