WOW!!
This game really looks awesome! Compared to the latest carrier command this is game truly is a jewel (an old jewel tho). Watched a 2min gameplay vid and I'm already hooked.

yeah it is kind of awesome. Piloting a tank or helicopter after watching everyone else issue your stacked orders in real time makes you feel like a real commander.

Combine multiple units in the group

Simular units (for example helicopters) make a groupe of 4 units. Look the video.

Select the units you want to group on the map screen, then press Ctrl and the number you want to assign the group to.

To ungroup, select individual units on the map screen and use the same key combo to assign them their own numbers.

I personally don't like setting numbers. I prefer to use "follow" command, but that's just me. The primary can go do things (which you give orders for), while the escorts (set to follow the primary) don't need orders unless they get into trouble.

You just need to be careful with weapon ranges; a following unit won't engage enemies unless they're within a certain range, and larger weapon ranges increase that auto-attack range. For example, having a Scalpel helicopter Following a laser helicopter will lead to the Scalpel helicopter sometimes not attacking, because stuff isn't in range. This is ok if you just want them to run protection, but if you want them all attacking, you need to have the long range weapons Follow the short range weapons, not visa versa.

But that's the whole point: the escorts should just escort. :)

Should, sure, but they don't, and that's probably not going to get patched. ;)

eh I like to stick lasers on my escourts just so I can circumvent this, that or rockets. Did they leave cheat codes in the steam edition>?
