Soulcatcher preferences for vehicles
so, I've been playing this over the past couple days, and having fun.

Anyway, I've noticed people have preferences for what vehicle they want to be in.
Obvious ones are Ransom, wants to be in a helicopter, not a ground vehicle. and Patton wants to be in a tank.
I'm not entirely sure what Borden wants to be in, she seemed to complain in a mission when I put her in a repair Scarab, but during the mission she seemed happy, called herself "nurse Borden" and such.

So, what other preferences do the various people have? And does it make a big difference in the vehicle performance?

If I remember correctly, it doesn't make any difference. It's just dialogue.

Ah, I see.
I wondered if there might be something in those personality profiles that appear in-between missions while it loads, but those zip by so fast on my computer I can't read them, D:

Just flavor text.
ACTUALLY each pilot has a bit of a personality. Ransom is a wild card who will go up alone against AAK-AAK guns if you let him (he learned nothing from his death it seems) and die. Madsen is a sniper, almost the opposite of Ransom. Patton is picky and wants artillery tanks, while Borden is ok with anything that can do demolition, but won't complain in a fighter chopper either. Kroker is best satisfied in an espionage/sabotage role, like a cloaking Puma. Korolev and Sinclair are best suited for defense or scavenging/repair. And Kenzie is just insane.:rfacepalm:

From what I noticed, some work better for different machines. Though don't get me wrong, I refuse to give patton a artillery weapon, because as soon as he fires it the target already moved away. Once you get flame throwers it's pretty much all I use save for rockets against air.

I have seen Patton take that artilerry weapon and shove it up so many bio-Mammoth-Tanks' backsides it's not even funny:claugh:. I don't know what you're talking about:cwat:?? The man was born, lived, and died in a tank.

Actually, the different Soulcatcher profiles do have different combat behaviour. Also, if they are sitting in something they dont like, they are slow to reacto to commands and enemies. Furthermore, some people enjoy destroying buildings and prioritize them before engaging other targets... as well as dodging behaviour.

Its not just the voices, it does affect combat results.

+1

Part of the skill in the game is utilising teh best soulcatcher chip in teh best vehicle. If you put the wrong pillot in a chopper as wingman - they'll fly off and leave you stranded while they go shoot up something you don't care about.... or worse they go attract some enemies you can't handle at that point! Patton isd often too gung ho... but a great shot with a mortar in the right place.

Also consider that you can take over any pilot at any time and some don't seem to like that much. So its good to get to know who is who and how reliable they are in the different configurations you can use.

THe end game can be very hard. But using teh skills you learn will make it easier. Carrier Command : Gaia mission has a great look and feel but lacks some of HW's great play. At least HW is available now :)

Why not do a Steam based Guide? I personally prefer to avoid following external links

Because it's TOO LONG. It's 125K in pure ASCII text.

Even if you can't condense the text. You could use multiple Guides to present the elements and one Guide to link to those elements. So it's at least worthwhile looking at trying. The advantage is that we don't havve to go offsite to look at a Guide and could Favourite your Guide withion Steam.

I havn't looked at teh current Guide limits but I know the game well and can't imagine any succinct Guide could stretch to be too big.

Okay, I've extracted the weapons, units, devices, and soulcatcher profile guides for you.
