Lazy voiceovers?

How you guys think about the fact that in this game (and I noticed in Final Fantasy 16 too) not all lines in the game are voiced?
It does break my immersion a bit... Granted, I did not play a whole lot yet, maybe you can get used to that, but why do it at all if you randomly have it in half the lines...

it's not laziness, it's expensive. The voice actors are paid for words, more words more expensive.

Atlus pays for dialog they know you are going to listen for sure. Yakuza series also does the same.

I wish too every dialog had a voiceover.

Japanese tradition, only the important parts are voiced.

It's pretty typical in text/dialogue heavy JRPGs for them to not be fully voiced. It's just far too expensive in most cases to be able to justify it.

Makes sense, the Jp Va cast is crazy good
I'm a huge fan of the Jp Va cast a lot of them do Va for Anime , Mc is Natsuki Hanae(Tanjirou,9S in Nier..),Gallica-Sumire Morohoshi, Hulkenberg -Saori Hayami(Yor Forger....),Maria-Yui Ishikawa(2B , Violet Evergarden..)Strohl-Kensho Ono , Louis-Yuichi Nakamura ,Akio Ōtsuka(Yakuza Like a Dragon , he did my favorite Karaoke version of Machine gun kiss, he's Thorkell in Vinland Saga and so on ),More-Takehito Koyasu(Dio in Jojo) ,Catherina-Fairouz Ai. Hikasa Youko(Lei, Qiang in one of my favorite Anime of all time Kingdom,the mc of Shaman King ...)

This game doesn't need full voice acting. You get enough voiced lines to get a grasp on the characters and their personalities. Their current system of using barks for less essential dialogue works fine.

I'd rather the budget go elsewhere, and I'm glad the developers appear to agree.

calling it "lazy" is a gross misunderstanding of how game development works, VO is very expensive and this is not some new budget cut from Atlus it is very common among their games and even long jRPGs in general. It's not like the Voices are incredibly sparse.

WOW. That is a lot of dedication to actually remember voice over people from products. I don't know names of vocalists of most bands I listen to even. I mean, I know Till Lindemann from Ramstain, Brian Warner (Marylin Manson), Ronny James DIO, David Bowie and Tobias Forge from Ghost lol I watch a lot of anime, but don't know any names for anything. Besides maybe Akira Toriyama. And the fact that Ufotable is best animation studio (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works).

I did notice that a lot of titles from Japan had this kind of voice over.

I remember I felt cheated when the WHOLE starting area in Age of Conan MMO had full voice over of every line, but after that not anymore. Still had a blast, before it went f2p.

I had that in notepad :D but I do recognize a lot of them when I hear the Jp VAs , I watch a lot of Anime and use Myanimelist to check the Jp Va and sometimes I pick Anime to watch based on the VAs , Saori Hayami,Yui Ishikawa are in my top 10 Va list in Myanimelist so it's super easy to recognize them

I pick anime often by going to NyaaTorrents and seeing which show has most seeders lol That usually is the banger. I do use Crunchy Roll too, but you know how it is with availability and censorship...

Nice , I started to use Crunchyroll because I felt bad but then saw that they have 3 full Hiroyuki Sawano concerts on Crunchyroll and just that it's worth a sub , Hiroyuki Sawano is incredible <3

For this type of game the script is very large, and it would just be prohibitively expensive to fully voice it.

If they went that route then some other area of the game would suffer, due to the proportion of the budget spent just on the voicework.

I am surprised that AI is not already doing that, but I guess you are right. Even though it would feel so much better if they had complete VO...

Atlus has been getting better at this and voicing more and more dialogue likely as they have more of a budget but yeah its a budgeting thing, more time the VAs are used the more money spent on them. Most important dialogue and long conversations are usually voiced but less important lines are left unvoiced.
