Persona 5 was my only Atlus game prior to this. And before I get called a hater: Despite it's many aspects that in my eyes are flaws, it was still fun enough to play through the whole 100 hours :) It's just that I'd be happy if they change up a few things in this new IP that I wasn't happy with in Persona.
To some extent it may have been intended to ensure that people wouldn't be lost after taking a break, as it is a very long game, but even if so that could have been handled much better (DQ XI did that much more gracefully, for example).
I still enjoyed the game, but the writing was definitely overly repetitive, so far Metaphor's writing doesn't seem to fall into the same trap, though we will see when the full game is out.
Edit: "calm down" was my goto answer as joker. It was a pretty common response the game had too it seems.
There are still long dialogue sequences, but they feel more natural, and don't interrupt you nearly as much when exploring dungeons.
Agreed
The game really is a homage to Digital Devil Saga.
I would welcome a Mantra board though.
