strohl bond

I have been advancing in the story and I don't know if it has been bugged but I can't improve Strohl's bond, I'm already on the second city and nothing, does anyone know anything? since I have seen that it can be improved much before but it doesn't work for me

Big same. He did appear earlier but due to time I let it slide a little but ever since I reached the second town I have never seem him available to talk and rank up to 2. He's just permanently stuck on rank 1 and I can't find any info on google.

Same for me! I’m in the second city and my bond to strohl is still at lvl 1. If anyone found out new information pls share it.

I'm gonna be pissed if he's locked at Rank 1, especially because the game pushed me to interact with someone else the day I was "suppose to talk to him".

Finish Matrina and you'll get the chance. Just got there myself.

If you're talking about rank 4 (IIrc) then you have to talk to him while he's hanging around in your current base of operation, even if you don't get notification about rank raise. If you try going to him without rank up notification on "followers" screen you'll get the message he doesn't want to talk to you or smth but you can go anyway.

After brief convo you'll get the message to talk to him on gauntlet runner (during the travel). To progress you have to talk to him during traval via gauntlet runner to progress to next rank.

It's same situation for Hulkenberg's 3rd rank

Can't confirm with any certainty yet, but my theory at the moment is that if you have a main story dungeon with a time limit on it, you can't progress your bonds with party members because they're distracted by that plot point, so you probably have to do the story dungeon first before you can talk with them.
Though, again, can't quite confirm yet, but working on testing that right now. Couldn't progress Strohl to 4 at the moment, so I'm going to try clearing the current story dungeon and see if that changes anything.

You can, I got Strohl level 4 and Hulkenberg level 5 while the countdown to the soiree was underway.
I suspect it's kind of the opposite; you can't talk to them until the point where you're actually free to start pursuing sidequests etc or do the dungeon, or when you've finished the dungeon and are just waiting for the timer to tick down. When you first arrive at Brilehaven for example and you initially regain control of your character you can do most things that don't require advancing time, but it won't let you do an activity that spends time until you've done what it's told you - find an inn.

i was having the same issue, made it to the 3rd city while at bond level 1 strohl. I kept visiting sunlumeo street where he sits and he eventually showed up.

I was also stuck with Strohls rank, altho in my case it was with his Rank up to 4.
Went to talk to him in town and it gave the same message to talk to him on the Gauntlet Runner. I talked to the other partymembers and got the same message.

Then when I went on a trip with the Gauntlet Runner all 3 party members immediately popped up with a Bond Rank up.

So it seems we have to make sure to peridiocally talk to them even when they arent available for Bond Rank up.

In my case I was suprised by some team comps having magic knight in one of Martira's additional dungeons, while I didn't have any Hulk's rank 3 pop ups. By the time I got to Brilehaven I realised you have to talk to them to iniciate gauntlet runner support ranks.

Other 2 party members will have smth similiar for sure.

For non party members you'll have to rank up certain virtues. If you try progressing those supporters without notification you'll get a message in "followers" screen about it.

I dont believe this is true. I've talked to both Strohl and Hulkenberg (both whom currently have a gauntlet runner bond event). However, traveling to Brilehaven, I was not able to bond with either for either day. Im still not sure what causes it.

This applies when you get the message ''I have to talk to them in town/Gauntlet Runner'' after talking to them when they dont show a grey or colored Bond icon in the follower screen. In other words: check the follower screen, if neither Bond icon type shows up go talk to them. If you get a text box that reads ''I will have to talk to them elsewhere'' (in addition to whatever else they might have to say) that should mean the Bond is now available at that location the next time you talk to them there. (and ofcourse, at the correct day/night time)

Whether they need to be on the Gauntlet Runner or in town I assume depends on the specific Rank.
