I wasn't happy with it at first either, but after noticing that it does not let you rewind on a party wipe, I find it's not that big of a deal. A bad ambush is still going to hit you hard, and rewinding won't save you from that. You can of course try to rewind for a more favorable starting round, but since you can only rewind on your own turn, each rewind on a bad ambush is a risk of getting your party one shotted by the monsters.
For bosses it really doesn't matter, since even in their previous games, you'd always have a save just before the fight anyway.
This won't help you at this point, but there's also a 6-12 hour demo of the game available, that allows transferring your save. There's no reason not to play the demo first, before making a purchasing decision.
A good use of it is if you're in a long fight and you don't think you have a chance at winning in your current state, if you'd rather just restart then rather than slogging through till you die or potentially kill the enemy or boss, then you're free to do so. The game does not force you to use the restart either, so complaining about it is kinda pointless when you can just ignore it.
Every ambush is a near party wipe.
our individual experinces aren't universal, but what is stopping you from taking the fight seriously after hitting rewind(assuming your not just ignoringit, if its that much of an issue for you)
its the same thing as a reload, but time is saved.
Would've loved that "Rewind" button during my 30ish attempts to defeat him on Godborn, instead of restarting the game every time Chaotic Will decides that 800 Luck + Abyssal Mask is not enough.
Sounds like a "you problem".
I'm at an age in which "wasting time" is actually something that matters. I always appriciate a game that values my time. Most times you'd use that feature is during a boss ... which have a checkpoint before it anyways - so why waste time quitting out of the game and simply reloading if I can just press a button? Makes no sense.
