Should I do operations on the very last day of the deadline?
Just finished the 2nd major dungeon and I feel like I cheated myself out of some free days, my deadline to defeat the boss was around 8 days if I recall correctly, now my next deadline is in 6 days. Did I just "waste" 7 days of free time?

You didn't lose anything, probably just forgot how many days you had left or that the dungeon takes a full day regardless. Generally speaking finishing dungeons ASAP can be helpful because it'll unlock more S Links.

Afaik (I'm late in the second to last month) the game will always conjure up some reason as to not move to the next story beat until the original deadline. You shouldn't have lost any time.

Thanks for the reassurance guys, I must have misrembered the deadlines, tho I was kinda sure the same thing happened with the necromancer dungeon in act 1.

The new 6 day deadline is the same deadline as your old deadline.
You dont lose any time for completing them early, in fact its highly suggested if you can handle the difficulty increase from not leveling up first.

Party member bonds arent available during a mission deadline, and usually said deadline also unlocks new bonds.

I always do the sidequest dungeons as soon as they are available, so I can enjoy my free days stress free

There is one point where this backfires horribly though: in the island area, the dungeon in the tower that takes 3 days of travel has bad weather 100% of the time. Which means weakness/crit does not give extra turns. It will be extremely difficult to beat, and if you don't have a save you will have wasted 3 days just to get there. So you should do the main quest dungeon first, which eventually leads to better weather

That quest doesn't have a deadline so for that quest in particular it's actually better to wait until after Altabury to do it because something happens that cuts the travel time from 3 days down to 1 day.
