How are you guys farming MAG?
I have plenty of Archtype exp to continue unlocking the higher tiers, but I am gated by MAG (I have talked to the heads which gives a good chuck, supports are almost maxed), I imagine farming the elemental orb things would be good, but I have not found a way to make them consistently spawn.

I am trying "steal MAG" from merchant, but 100 MP to 1000 MAG is not that great, and a bit annoying to deal with.

mag is the one thing i never even considered as a factor, if you aren't actively unlocking everything for everyone it just builds up passively.

that said, i suppose if you need it, the next time your in a dungeon just grind out easy enemies, or find wisps to kill as they give a lot.

Yeah Mag was not a factor until I needed 300-400k of it for the final tiers. There is no passively build up for me at this point, I am at late game.

On Steam, the utmost braindead (not necessarily fastest) farming method I've used for hero leaf and mag farming -

Step 1: Find a Trance Crystal somewhere, anywhere you outlevel spawns enough to kill in the overworld but still gives gains worth your time
Step 2: Equip any archetype from the Mage Lineage
Step 4: Bring up your Steam overlay in-game and go into your controller settings, enable turbo function and toggle for your attack button
Step 3: Put yourself far enough away from the trance crystal, enable the attack button for infinite cost-free death circle, let a few mobs come to you to test it out
Step 4: Walk away and do something else while mobs step into your kill circle forever

When you're done just be sure to turn the toggle function back off in your settings.

near the top of the tower of insolence, theres a floor with a ton of weak skeletons. i approach it from the back and snipe the skele mage for about 1k. it’s not very efficient but i was stuck there so it’s what i ended up doing.

I find that Arch-type exp is a lot more of an issue if your character level is too high.
When it comes to MAG you dont use quite as much.

One thing you can do to farm MAG is use all Merchant in Gauntlet Runner battles (and maybe Tournament if it works there) since in those battles you have full MP.

Archtype exp is easy, You just farm monsters with every party member on a mastered class. Takes no time at all really. Bosses will generally give like 10+ 1k seeds to use.

That only works well if you are very underleveled. Once you are higher leveled it becomes a pain to get Arch-exp untill you find another high level area.. and those arent always available. Plus, you need Arch-exp a lot more then MAG.

I have farmed Arch-exp quite well in Chapter 2, getting the seeds up to 100. The problem is that as a result my level became too high and exp gains massively dropped.

All I can really say is if you are playing normally, and not trying to class up all characters and sticking to 4, You will have a MAG problem, not a arch-type exp problem. I have almost everything I want leveled and ready to unlock at around level 50ish, and dungeons are level 60+ right now. That is just unlocking the archtypes to, that isn't including the 10k-20k Skills I want to inherit as well.
Klinestife Oct 17, 2024 @ 2:20pm
yeah, i think most people in this thread haven't run into the 28k (after maxing out the social link) mag classes yet, of which you need a lot to unlock the 30k mag classes.

4 x Merchants
Use all your SP stealing Mag
Swap to mages get your SP back (or inherit the skill w/e idk if you can)
respawn monsters
repeat

infinite mag and a ton per fight.

Yeah, pretty much this.

Some players like me mained x4 merchants for most of the game, I was never in need of mag, gold, etc. I usually had enough mag to unlock the newly acquired classes for all my party members the moment I got them, and had enough items to boost them to at least level 10.

for me it's the other way around, I have 600k mag and just so few arch xp items, still so many archetypes to level up

I feel like maybe the problem folks have with Arch exp is overleveling. Did people do a ton of grinding early or something?

In what way would over leveling create issues with arch exp? You'd just have higher arch levels along with higher character levels.
Shadowmail Oct 17, 2024 @ 5:36pm
Because I am 5-10 levels below most of the combat encounters in the game, I have almost enough Arch EXP to get all 4 royal classes at level 50, but lacking 400k mag get them. I never converted MAG to gold, and didn't use that much on synergy skills/other characters I don't use. I assume the combats I do take part in give more Arch exp compared to if you do them at equal level. Every combat gives like 400-1k arch exp depending on the amount of mobs in it.
