None of these are samurai except heismay. You’re reaching hard. Plus these nobles are European not anything to do with samurai.
Unironically the Japanese voices are more accurate.
I am saying that Japan have the equivalence of nobles and knights i.e. the samurai.
At least with Japanese audio I can't tell if they're good VAs or not. Now if only I could get Gallica to shut the hell up in battle...
But good dub could be strenght too. We didnt have choice with Dragon Quest 8, dubbed it is. But how awesome it was, i fell totally in love with Yangus cockney accent or king Toads scottish et cetera. Dub raised that classic totally to new heights.
Some phenomenal work from the English VO cast in all though
Weabo white kids pretending they understand Japanese is always hilarious to me.
That's how it often goes. If there's comments about the 'other side' its tends to be:
JP voice person: ''the experience in JP is really better, so I advice using it (+ here is why)
EN voice person: ''you dont even understand JP, EN is great, better then JP, etc''
That's a generalization, ofcourse. But yeah.
For me its very simple. If EN voiceacting is also toptier you won't see me say anything bad about it. However due to a lot of reasons that is almost never the case. (atleast with translated/localized games) Which is also why there's always a good amount of people coping about the EN dub.
The unfortunate reality is that as long as people are fine with mediocre EN voiceacting, its never going to become as good as JP voiceacting. I dont see that changing any time soon. Especially not now that many people in the West just havent even experienced amazing voiceacting, like ever.
It is kind of true that we likely are just unaware of what bad Japanese dubbing sounds like but can discern crap English dubbing easily.
But like Restoni says:
English dub done right can be downright magical. It is more immersive to understand the language being spoken. DQ8 was dubbed very, very well.
This can be true, too. That the number of games with fantastic voice acting doesn't balance out the bad.
It's probably more fair to just say "Take it as a case-by-case basis." That said, Persona has been a pretty great showing for voice acting... and what I hear from videos of Metaphor is also pretty solid.
