First you have to like anime in general or at least be interested in it. Some like it from the start some connect to it later on I know some who began to read manga in their late 40s.
And well, the most eastern games have much better story telling than western games.
Old western games were decent but nowadays 90% of them are simply just extremely bad.
Except Final Fantasy from the east which also became a super bad franchise over the years.
I'm actually not interested in the characters in this game since they look kinda odd but if their background story is interesting enough it might change.
The kiseki series for example has tons of plot twists linked to the childhood of some characters which was so well written which was clearly made by a genius.
I like a good mix of story, characters, gameplay (good music is a bonus)
I don't care about graphics at all anymore since the most games with amazing graphics lack everything else.
The only western game I still play is path of exile but otherwise never again
Why?
There are far, far better Western games.
Also, I'm really not into cartoons. I mean, I watch Family Guy and I'm getting caught up on South Park, but those aren't the soap operas I think maybe Anime has become? I don't know. I don't know if I even want to start watching it. I just want to get to the point where games like this aren't too weird to even try...
Any suggestions on that front?
I also watch a few western shows (at least the ones that are available)
Well if you played stuff like Zelda you might get a good starting point.
This game here is kinda strange, this is definitely not for everyone, same for Persona and SMT.
The most Atlus franchises are pretty specific even in the anime community.
You could begin with something simple such as Valkyria Chronicles and slowely dig deeper into the field until the crazy worlds appear.
Also just download the demo of this game and check if its for you
Dunno, I think maybe the gameplay would be. I'm just trying to get more into the anime part of it I guess? I just didn't grow up on Anime so it's hard for me to transition over I guess.
Ohh, you mean ARPGs, yeah POE is a good one. Try Grim Dawn also.
I did play every Zelda up to the one with the whistle. Then I started PC gaming and kind of lost touch with the series.
Valkyria Chronicles? I'll check that out, thanks.
Easy solution find a portal where you can watch the Persona anime (Netflix might have it still) and if you like it you'll like this game as well
No you don't. Source: me
SO you're not into anime and you still like the game? That's what I needed to hear. I don't understand the Anime art style... like.. at all. But, if the game is still good regardless I can give it a try.
I would advise starting with Shin Megami Tensei 3 : Nocturne, if you think you would like this type of gameplay, but maybe not dig the anime artstyle.
SMT Nocturne is like a more cool version of these types of games.
If you don't like reading, lots of cutscenes and just prefer action games in general it might not be for you.
What I like about ATLUS games is that they know how to make good challeging turn based games at least at the start of their games (some games stay difficult like Strange Journey). I even get that adrenaline rush like when you beat a difficult souls boss in some ATLUS games, there is a Minotaur boss early in this game that made me jump with joy when I beat it after failing for a good time.
Why play anime game if you don't like it?
Push through the story? It's your own precious free time, don't do anything you don't enjoy
RIP
