Waiting for Gamebillet to list it personally, they're usually my go-to and cheapest place for ATLUS titles.
But looking at Atlus games, it's highly likely that in a few years Metaphor will get some kind of "Metaphor: Royal edition" upgrade. The high price is basically just normal economics where people who are willing to pay the price will pay it and those who won't will maybe buy it later after a few discounts.
Keep in mind that Atlus is not Ubisoft, Blizzard, EA, or any other giant "game as a service" company. Atlus only makes money with the one time purchase and maybe with expansions. There is no cash shop. There is no gacha. There is no battle pass. You buy it and you can play it with all the content.
This is why the high price is more than justified. There will be huge discounts later on. There will be some kind of expansions or complete editions later on. But even then the price is more than justified and if you really think it's too high of a price point, simply wait a few years and maybe get the complete edition for below $20.
I'm just glad that such a masterpiece is available and that Atlus exists as a company. To this day I haven't seen any game that comes even close to Atlus and after the new normal in game pricing is $130+cash shop+tip, I'm more than happy with the $100.
But, the game won't release until October. There is literally zero reason to pre-order right now, because even the pre-order stuff is the same if you buy the game now or one day before release. At this point it's worth it to just wait, look what Sega approved resellers offer, and then decide in a few months where to buy.
But yeah just playing the waiting game for it to be listed now..
It seems just like SMT5V; atlus sends out pre-order keys right away
