Download and manually install the latest microsoft directx redist installer. It may help you. It didn't for me but I have read that others were able to get the game running this way.
1.) Go to where you have the Lego Movie installed. For me its C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\The LEGO® Movie - Videogame
2.) Double-click on LEGOEMMET (At this point I received an error message regarding a missing DLL)
3.) Go here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
4.) Click the Download button, and run the installer once its download.
5.) Let the installer do its thing, then when its done double-cick on LEGOEMMET again.
If you're lucky,.. it'll work.
Also,. according to Steam Support, make sure your Steam files are NOT set to read-only. So:
1.) Press windows key E
2.) Navigate to C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam (You might have installed steam in a different location)
3.) Select all the files/folders in the right pane.
4.) Single-right-click on one of the selected files/folders
5.) Select Properties from the Popup menu
6.) Uncheck the Read Only checkbox
7.) Click Apply
8.) Click Ok
9.) Click Ok
Good luck
Chris
PS Standard disclaimer,.. I'm not responsible for anything that may happen to your computer. I did this stuff on my kids laptop that I really don't care if something gets lost,.. so I took a gamble.
After I tried to report the issue to Steam support, I found message on their support page: "Contac WB support..." So, WB was telling me to contact Steam and Steam was telling me to contact WB. I sent a screenshot from Steam page to WB and wrote few more mails. I insist.
Now the support enginer that was trying to get rid of me and was sending me to Steam support, responded me that he's gonna report the issue to his superior tech leads...
We'll see.
All you people having issues, write mails to WB support! Let them see they have to work hard on this.
1. Use the delete option on the right click menu of the game in the steam library and re-install
2. Browse to the game files on your hard drive, Steam\steamApps\Common\The Lego Movie... open up the _CommonRedist folder, open the DirectX folder\Jun2010 then run setup.exe, then do the same for the _CommonRedist\vcredist folder (run x86.exe on 32 bit sytems, and x64.exe on 64 bit systems)
This should fix it.
Cheers!
If you did all the above methods, try this thread for some of my fixes - http://steamcommunity.com/app/267530/discussions/0/522730700526116529/
1. Change your desktop resolution to 1024x768.
2. Run the game. (This time, it shouldn't minimize.)
3. Select "New Game".
4. Skip through the videos to get to the gameplay.
5. Press ESC.
6. Select "Options."
7. Select "Video Settings."
8. Select your desired screen resolution. (The game will now minimize again.)
9. Change your desktop resolution to your desired resolution.
10. <Alt-Tab> back to the game. (The game should not minimize.)
11. Enjoy!
