Why do people complain about the price so much?
To be completely honest, $50 isn't that bad when you consider it.
Porting a 14 year old game made strictly for console controls to PC would require a ridiculous amount of work; coming from a programmer I'd say it's a fair price, albeit I am just a student and not some highly educated one with several degrees.
Not to mention if you convert it $/T, I personally will get my share out of this game but at the end of the day to each his own.

edit: Lord above stop having ♥♥♥♥ measuring contests with other about either "owning the game" or "being a sheep because you own the game", I'm personally done with this discussion because it is very literally just people trying to prove that their ♥♥♥♥ is bigger than somebody elses.
Those who own the game? I hope you enjoy it.
Those who don't and are waiting for a sale? I hope it comes soon and that you enjoy it.
Those pirating the game? I hope it's a safe pirate and that you enjoy it.
Those who aren't getting the game? I hope you play games you like and enjoy it.

92 millions copies sold for the entire franchise *Rockstar said.
__

- 23 millions of these are RDR + Undead
- 67 millions of these are RDR2,
- 2 millions of these are RDR re-release

So while 2 millions is a lot of people technically, its not that much for the franchise.

* Im not sure if this include Red Dead Revolver or not

You simply cant sell it for more than much better, bigger and newer RDR2. It is just wrong. If I offer you new PC worth of 2000 USD components I cant sell you 15 years old machine based on intel celeron with gtx 7500 for 3000 USD. RG are just greedy bi**es.

The average cost of porting a game is between 20 to 100 thousand dollars.
Say it cost them twice that much. 200 thousand to port and over 2 million in sales so far.

And it's still selling pretty well as far as I can tell.

That's an exhibition on gauging the market and making profit sir.

And now it's on sale for $40.00. Ka-ching!

I still wouldn't pay more than a tenner for it myself. But that's just me with a huge backlog of games to get through.

The value is not there. Thats given. RG are just milking this title, because they know that many players will give them extra money for the 1) nostalgia reasons to play it again on PC because they played it long time ago on consoles 2) continuation of the story - many players including myself never played RDR1 and started with RDR2 - it is very tempting to continue with the story, although I have to say that I really hate movies and games which are so far apart that they look like from different century. The same reason I dont want to watch Star Wars. I mean 4 5 6 and then 1 2 3 and what 7, 8 9 or how many? If there all would be made in 10-15 year period I would watch it, but they are apart how many 30 years? I wish the RDR1 would have a story of RDR2 and the RDR2 released few years back would be the continuation story - RDR1, but unfortunately that option is long gone and not possible to alter (unless go back in time using time machine).

Yeah not buying either, got it on Xbox for 10$ or so when I bought RDR2.

If it was that hard, they would've made a Remake instead from RDR2, the entire RDR1 map was right there.
Cut the crap.

I only have access to this forum after my purchase of the game, so everybody here pays already to complain. LOL

People who own the game have a mouse beside their names. Otherwise they don't own the game. Please stop making a fool of yourself by writing " LOL " when you dont know what youre talking about.

This, like all Rockstar remakes I've come across, was at least partially outsourced to keep the costs down.

Not to mention, the engine RDR runs on has already been ported to PC.

I believe you're VASTLY overestimating the difficulty of a project such as this.

The good news is that there are an abundance of indi developers making very good games at reasonable prices that don't require 3rd party accounts and predatory DRM to play. These AAA publishers can take all these stipulations and shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
You want money Rockstar? Than stop treating potential customers like crap and act like it.

Honestly degrees mean nothing, Sure throw 8 years into a college if you want but i'd rather 3-4 into specialized training from home, just me the docs and specialists. Not some professor and 50 other knuckleheads trying to make big games.

Because now, not only can you not play this game AT ALL with the new rockstar launcher bug/update/downgrade, but now other rockstar games also have the same error pop up and tell customers who just paid the full $50 for the game, they now can no longer play it.....that alone is a reason why the price tag is a joke, nevermind the fact it is $50, with a launcher that can stop a single player game from launching, and you got no multiplayer like the original did.

are people really so broke? they had to port the entire game, and remaster it, which takes alot of effort... yes 50$ is abit pricey but still okay, couldve been 30-40$ , be happy that it isnt 70$ or 120$ with dlc/seasonpass, like all the scumbags do nowadays.
(which i dont support btw, ill never buy games at 70$-120$ no matter what.)

plus its not just red dead redemption, its also red dead redemption undead nightmare, and the dlc's/expansions whatever you call em, are also included in red dead redemption.

Take a look at the right most column and decide for yourself, dunno how you can justify all those red percentages though. Nvm the fact that it shouldn't even be priced above $30-40 as the USD base, for being 14 years too late.
