Spurred the victory achievement

Do I have to make a new save for this achievement?

Depending how far into the game you are. If you are still in mexico or before then you have way more than 20 missions left. If your in black water it could be a gamble.

I got that one earlier, and I'm still in Mexico. So I'd say as long as you're still not there, you got enough missions left.

There are 57 story missions, if your "Missions completed" stat in Stats > General is less than 20 missions from that (38 or higher) and your horse died or was switched recently, you may be out of luck.

I screwed myself because I didn't know horses dying reset it, but it only took me a couple hours from a new save to get it, just had to whistle after each mission to make sure I had the same horse before manual saving. As long as nothing goes wrong, you'll unlock it when you finish the 21st mission, since the first mission's horse is temporary.

I had to restart for that achievement, it stinks but it only takes a couple hours if you skip cutscenes.

yea i just got it an hr ago. its honestly not hard just dont hitch any horse and stay away from the hitch and you're golden. save often and make sure your horse is alive . game gave me the war horse so thats overpowered lol

When you say don't hitch any horse you mean any 'other horse'? you can hitch your current horse or no?

You can hitch your current horse. I did. But if you want to be extra safe, don't hitch at all. Oh, and sometimes when a mission starts, the game will have hitched your horse automatically. Don't worry about it, it doesn't matter.

Thanks, so as long as you don't change your current saved horse through twenty missions it should fire, whether you hitch it to a post or not. Correct?

The achievement also seems to be a bit buggy or at the very least easy to get wrong.

I kept/hitched the Kentucky Saddler you get after completing "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions". Never hitched a horse after, never saw my horse die. However, even after 24 missions played since then, no achievement unlocked. Maybe it was voided because I died a couple times during some missions and the horse dies offscreen too?

Calling my horse always resulted in the same model of horse spawning. So I walywas figured everything was fine. Now I'm trying it again with a different breed and ~30 missions left to play.
