How to disable automarking in Dead Eye?

At the beginning of the game the Dead Eye ability would just slow down the time - I loved that. Now it just marks everyone and everything randomly, shooting horses, innocent people, etc. How can I disable that nonsense and revert it to manual (just to slow down the time)?

continue the story, you will get a better dead eye that no longer automark, i dont like automark too its annoying to use
or you can active cheat, but it disable save

The first level only slows down time, you can't mark anything. The second level automatically marks things for you to shoot. And then the third level lets you choose your marks like in duels.

Yeah its pretty stupid, pretty sure its the same in RDR2. I actually accidentally killed my horse while bountyhunting because the horse was in a bush and the automarking ♥♥♥♥♥♥ it up for me.

This is my one gripe with the game, makes me want to rush the story missions between dead eye level 1 and 3 :/

Feels like level 2 should be the start where you aren't that good of a shot yet and just spray and pray and then progress to levels 1 and 3.

to manually mark it, u have to progress thru the story. you get level 3 when you cross to mexico

That's the neat thing, you don't until the game arbitrarily allows you to at some point.
If I remember, that means you can't even consistently disarm in duels anymore.

you need reach next lvl of dead eye probably like in rdtr2 it is story locked.

If you mark something without wanting to, just cancel deadeye, you don't have to shoot. Then go into it again.

This happen in Rd2 dont worry you have to keep playing and reach to Mexico or it was when you go to Dutch I dont remember but its late in game
