Yes, no English VA. Devs got rid of it because they're cheap.
No PvP.
The sexualization was okay at first, but the devs started to go all-in by the time of the previous event. Skins started off looking cool and tactical. Now the characters are barely wearing anything while running around in the middle of Siberia. For example, the most recent new character has a paid skin where she loses a bit of clothing each time you use her skill.
been playing for about 4-5 months, story is pretty good if you read it it can get pretty intense and at times emotional, the characters have depth but the combat is pretty meh. it has a cover system but its made irrelevant by strafing left or right, you can play the game entirely free and still get a good bit of pulls, some of the characters are broken (they dont function properly) like lyfe and haru break in the online co-op stuff and never been fixed. the game had english VAs but they discontinued them as of this update with tess, now its mainly japanese with no subtitles for all foreseeable future content due to "not enough people using english voiceover", the game feels like its heading down a more lewd path then what the game once was with increasingly skimpier purchasable outfits primarily for chenxing, lyfe and yao, there is no pvp but people are screaming for pvp content to be added. the VA acting will depend on the person you ask, some like it some hate it
So it sounds like it was once a good game, but now it's getting worse and worse?
in my opinion, yes, its getting worse but others will say its fine and nothing is wrong with the game
Oh have to mention very generous system like farming character's shards, this basically means you just have to get one copy of a limited character and It's only the matter of time to unlock all extra skills from character dupes.
Free is a subjective. Personally I value my time more than my money, so I try to be informed about the game before I invest time into it.
This game is probably not for you. Go play some Roblox or something
Nikke? I didn't even played it, I just seen gameplay, many ppl were hyping it, but in reality, it looks like totally oversexualized garbage. Maybe game has some positives but how they present it makes me vomit.
Nikke in terms of story and music is way better than snow break, progression, gameplay(when it works) and f2p friendly Snowbreak has the upper hand.
been playing both since launch! Both games continue to get better and better!
The game is getting better. The recent update included several QoL measures and the addition of in-game chat along with the best story chapter to date. Of note, the level design in the most recent missions was a clear improvement. It was good before, but new missions have significantly more verticality to play around with and some parts can be stealthed using silent skills or long-range snipers.
At the same time, they keep selling extremely horny skins. Every skin released since the second event has been several degrees hornier than the last. With the most recent character, her base skin is also extremely horny. Worse, while she is characterized as an amateur magician who gets so nervous she once passed out for 3 days when trying to perform, she for some reason runs around in an odd bathing suit + mini-skirt combo. It doesn't help that she's been stationed in the snow the whole time.
The game does feel light on repeatable content outside of certain events, but it's clearly being polished further with every update. The story is decent, but your immersion may or may not survive future updates if characters are dressed to appeal to horndogs but characterized like normal human beings. The real shame is that the good characterization is kind of at odds with the costume choices.
And yeah I guess, that too is a personal thing, in much the same way... if yo into that
