Cannot spectate my friend

We both have just a basic subscription and we play Mazda cup so I have a track and a car and I have seen the watch link in dropdown menu before which itself is quite buggy because you have to scroll to see all menu items.

I tried close and open the app many times and the race was over without link ever appearing. Is there some max spectator amount or is this just a bug?

If you are friends with him in iRacing there is an easier way.

Just open the friendsbox (bottom right corner) and you can see a steering wheel next to the people who are in a session. Click on the wheel and choose "Watch"

But how can I choose the "Watch" if it's not visible?

You do have to own the track and the car to spectate.

It's been suggested a lot of times to make it possible to watch races without owning the track or car, but still not implemented.

I have just a licence to use them while I have subscription, but I did watch my friends race before so I think it has to be some other reason. Could it maybe be a bug?

could be, just file a ticket at support.iracing.com or send them an email to ask.
