it's not like other games, the website controlls 100% of the game, it won't work when the webpage is down, for instance
your sim is out of date because iRacing is a web-based game, thus the thing you download is just a viewer, everything else is downloaded from the server, that's why it's not a very large file.
it's not "start and jump in" there's more to it then that.
i just told you, it's a web-based game, it doesn't have the latest updates with it, it downloads them from a server,
There currently is nothing for you to update. You may be seeing this page because you own a pre-order that is not available for download at this time.
I paid 39 to purchase it and now its a non working pre-order?
at the top of the page there are "TEST" & "RACE NOW" tabs to open the track and car selection on your screen .. i strongly suggest you visit the forum for that specific car, download a few sets from the "Setup Shop" and use the "TEST" functionality first to get a feel for the car using different set ups
remember, this is not really a game .. it's a motorsport simulator
also, if i recall correctly, once you've downloaded iRacing, you'll have to use the "Update Manager" to download your available content .. you should see a red tab towards the top right of your UI screen that says "Updates Required" .. hit that and it'll take you to the "Update Manager"
If you still experience problems after that, go to the top right of your UI screen on iRacing, hit "Contact Us" and shoot a mail to "Support" .. their turn around time for assitance is pretty quick
for starters, you really aren't getting the full service yet, it's a soft-launch, they are testing if it works on steam, because a majority of the current owners own it directly through the website at
www.iracing.com
Steam is running, i am logged in, i press on Iracing: Play. A command window opens telling me to start iracing in the background, log in through browser.
A webpage opens: "iRacing Steam User Sign In
Already purchased iRacing through Steam? Sign in below:" I do this, entering my steam details and get forwardet to the quick start guide. When pressing any button there like configure or calibrate a page opens 127.0.... where there is nothing than just a white screen, when pressing item 9 "getting on the track" i recognize there shall be a program already running, what isnt the case.
That means? Paid 37EUR for nothing?
in your install directory there shoudl be a file called Start_iRacingService try running it and see if it works
Thanks, Email written
