Iracing = empty pocket, dont buy into the "idea".
Don't buy into it, I have been a member before, bought plenty of content all for what? there is sim racing software that cuts this to shreads, such as Assetto corsa, pCars, RF2, and they dont charge by the month!
You will just about get to where you want to with it and then you'll have to buy another 6 months to carry on with your "Iracing career".
Having to pay just to race with your mates with a private server, with no way to start a dedi server of your own.

1 race per week
1 series per 6 weeks

average cost of content £20 per DLC = 1 car or 1 track

This GAME imo is too expensive, and too focused on oval racing. This one is for the yanks!

Never thought I would be in the position to defend IR. Almost funny and odd situation.

Nascar 2002, and N2k3 would have 8,000 to 10,000 users on at any given time day. Most Nascar pappy racers would have gladly forked over 75$ every year to have there main hobby game updated just like madden does for ea. But the football like stiff arm felt by the community was what hurt IR.

IR today says it mis judged how many sim racers there is in the world. No IR staff and management misjudged there own community (papy community / GPL / N2002 / 2003 ) . Many people, community leaders of web sites who sold and promoted the product for years who felt left out, insulted, or threatened by IR gave up, and with them went there communities, lost into other games or just retired there wheels into closets or tag sales.

If the n2003 community had not been treated with more diplomatic communications IR today would have been much different then it is now. The pappy community alone could have easily carried IR in population of 10,000 plus online at any time of day. Imagine is IR had that 10k online as a base to start with.

Matchmaking and splits would be so much closer and competitive. I can only dream of what it would have been, this conversation would have been laughable.

With all that said IR is more costly yes, but is a better product in so many ways. The original poster ... all the titles you named are not even as good as nascar 2003 yet iracing, in my opinion. Go play Redline's GTP mod for nascar 2003, to this day it blows away any thing in rfactor or rf2. Not even close.

Iracing software is getting better ..I took almost 2 years off and I am impressed with the improvements. Too many to list.

I wish IR good luck on steam.

I was with Papy from the beginning with the Indy sim, I thought iRacing would be great when NASCAR sold out to EA but it only took one test (for me anyways) to see this was not for me, the modders for N2k3 did/do more for the racers then IR ever has, I just wish they would do another sim like that (N2k3) for the folks of today, but that's just a lost dream.

Why so discouraging. I LOVE ALL RACING GAMES(and simulaters). Yup, iracing is more like a hobby. I spent 1g on snowboarding every winter, comparing to that, iracing is alot cheaper. xD

I actually agree, with casual... Let it be known I am an iRacing fan and race on there everyday. Though iRacing has no place here on steam, where there's just way to many casual gamers, just looking to have fun and not take a game to heart.

The fact it's more of a hobby and the amount of money you need to put into it, is a huge turn off to many steam users.

Though let it be known iRacing is a great game, along with pCars and AC. Okay i'll say it rfactor 2 isn't all that bad as well. Can't all of use sim racer's just get along lol.

iRacing is the best sim that even comes close too racing a real car in real life. hands down and in real life things take time. so give it a year just racing rookies No Extra Purchase needed bye then you will work out its not a game its a sim. i spend more time in practice sesions (sometimes with upto 40+ cars on the track with no lag) more then i race. ya really got to put in time practicing before you race.

I say Thanks iRacing for the best time ive ever had sitting at home racing so many diffrent people around the world
McFloaty 90 2015 年 1 月 13 日 下午 8:08
I guess the thousands of real world race car drivers, club racers, oval, auto-x, etc. don't know anything.............
Mandible 2015 年 1 月 13 日 下午 8:48
Good luck getting any real solid mulltiplayer races in AC or any other racing game for that matter..... iracing is the best because you race agains REAL people who take it seriously. And unless your a broke teenager, iracing isnt expensive at all.

I have a feeling CASUAL_ALIEN pride got hurt when he tried to compete on iracing.

It's funny that he calls himself an Alien when clearly by his iRacing stats he was nowhere. No one could be an alien or judge iRacing with only 22 race starts anyway.

99% of actual aliens and any serious racer is on iRacing. They may load up AC or pCars or rFactor for something different every now and again, but if you are serious about cars and racing the you will be on iRacing.

Thing with AC, GT, rFactor, pCars is that 99% of iRacers never go back to those titles. It's only the 1% of racers whose pride got hurt like CASUAL_ALIEN that turn away from iRacing.

iRacing is for competition . If you actually want to compete against other drivers in a serious atmosphere, iRacing is where you want to be. If you are a gamer or a casual racer then no, it probably isn't. It takes work, practice and patience to compete at the highest levels, so this is NOT an arrive and drive "game" . There is room for more than one racing title, some just want more out of them than others.

This GAME imo is too expensive, and too focused on oval racing. This one is for the yanks!

Been racing on iracing for over 5 years, and i dont have one bad thing to say about it, except there mild sell out attempt by releasing on steam...where boatloads of arcade style racers will jump in, suck, crash, ♥♥♥♥♥, then quit because its to hard...

You say its to focused on oval racing?, i dont think you even know what your talking about now, theres way more road course content then oval...and im an oval guy

iracing is a diehard racers paradise, and i have played pretty much any racing game/sim for any console or pc , for the past 20 years...it is by far, the most realistic, challenging, and fun motorsport simulator ever created...and im not exagerating one little bit....if you think you can drive, and i mean really drive, then your going to find out on iracing , one way or another if thats true or false.

Alot of people are saying its a cash cow because of the cars and tracks, well i look at it like this, theres no damn way your going to jump on iracing, and run a late model, then a truck, then a cup car, at multiple tracks, and be competitive at each, not a chance, you need to pick a series, and work at it for a long time to understand the car, and it takes mass amounts of practice at each race track to become competitive and fast....therefore, there is really no point in buying all kinds of cars and tracks off the bat...stick with one series, and learn the ins and outs of that particular car.....it really shouldnt cost you tha much, especially when in rookie, most if not all the tracks for that car come with the initial sub fee.

bout all i got to say on it, like i said, its the only place to race in my opinion.

Hey Casual, I found your iRacing stats. Oh wow man. You're good.

Your entire career stats are:

Oval = 10 Starts, 2 top 5's
Road = 22 Starts, 2 wins, 11 top 5's.

So 32 Official Races in total. Over a total of 4 years. 3 oval and 1 road start in 2013, 4 road and 3 oval in 2012 and 17 road and 4 oval in 2009.

You're opinion has thus been dilluted by the fact you haven't actually really given it a proper go. All of your official races have been in the rookie cars as your skill is at that level.

:csgogun:

I see iRacing as a private membership to keep trolls away. If you think this is expensive... try joing a private golf club.

True... I doubt we will live to see the day of not having someone trolling. Atleast you dont see them outside of rookie series track and cars.

THIS post, in a nut shell, sums up iRacing in terms of its quality and economy ..

sorry, the "it's too expensive" mantra doesn't fly .. not one little bit .. at all

hands down the most economical and rewarding service i've ever been part of .. and that's coming from someone who gets bored real easy with anything .. i see no end to my enjoying this superb service

iracing needs alot of work on physics yes it has the best mp but thats as far as it goes its not even close to assetto corsa or GSCE in terms of driving feel ive had iracing for years now but since i got ac ive let my iracing account go and set it not to re sub.
