Dont buy without reading!!
I played this alot and there are alot of better options that are not sub based with a dumb buy price (like asseto corsa, project cars etc). As for the game its not what I would call fun. You must use a wheel or you will struggle to keep it on the road. The "safety rating" decides what "race licence" you are assigned to, which means if you have someone hit you even a little or put one wheel on the grass thats a negative safety rating for that race, meaning zero progression and you have to keep paying to attempt to have clean races to get to a class where your not driving MX5's. Not only that its lagy, graphics are not the greatest, the cars are way to over complicated to drive you cant push yourself to go faster as you are scared you will waste a good 30-40 mins if you put a wheel on the grass.

If you want a racing game that will really piss you off, have to buy most of the cars/tracks you would want to race on for crazy money, pay a monthly sub to drive with lagy yanks with no driving skill (not all) and get know where fast then this is the game for you.

Big fat yanky cash cow

Advice to get out of the sucky low level licences groups:

-Do alot of CLEAN qualifying laps to boost safety rating try not to race as there will be crashes

-If you are brave enough to race just sit at the back and do CLEAN laps this will boost it alot

-Once you are out of the rookie levels you can start opening the taps but as I said, push to hard and you will not progress....

-Consistency is the key

-Only use a wheel never a controller, a controller just wont do and you will probably come last every race as its hard enough to correct overstreer etc with a wheel never mind the controller.

i win races with a controller STFU u boob...and considering the price of a wheel and iRacing using a controller for the time is just fine AS long as u have stiff analogs those w/ANY play whatsoever (meaning they move w/the slightest touch) will cause havoc...my madkatz w/grip tape all over it works great...every other controller i have used the analogs suck balls....

1. 780ti- still looks like a ps2 game
2. Again was not hating on yanks just that most users are American and a good 40% are bad drivers
3. What they pay is like a month free if you complete championships
4. "Learn to avoid wrecks and handle a car. Told you that already." told me when? I have been sim racing since 2005, I know.
5.Sounds like you love this game and get salty when someone expresses an opinion you dont like.

1. GeForce 260 - Looks amazing and runs at 60 fps stable on max graphics. I'd post photos to show you but idk how on steam.
2. Same can be said about every other country (except Finland). If foreigners are so superior why are most of them bigots?
3. Actually, it's almost a whole year if you're smart, but we don't have to worry about that with you.

On the bright side, new rookies don't have to worry about this guy anymore.

hahhahaha
true dat!

tbh assetto corsa has far better physics than iracing its just iracing has the best mp that said its too expensive and ac is at the beginning of development and already shines once i played ac i set iracing not to renew my sub.its just not worth all the money you need to spend on it.

+1 on that. Ever since I came on Steam, my iRacing sub lapsed, never to be thought of again. I owned a lot of content too. It was good in its day, but AC and a couple more on here are prettier, cheaper and just as good if not better physics,

They were great pioneers but others have passed them by. The tracks are nice and the competition was the best I came across as far as being courteous and skllfull.

It's just that AC, man, that eye candy is too cool for school.

I think DTM is a close second.
I had a go on AC this evening. It reminded me of Gran turismo ;)

This guy will never finish ac. just like the way he left us all in it with netkar pro.

Sure you may get more content. but multi player with it will always suck.

I purchased AC because it was on sale. I still feel ripped off for buying it.

Physics, pretty good. graphics shiny. then what? i get bored driving around on my own or against ai.

but thats my opinion. some may like this style and power to them.

i just dont think you can even compare AC with iracing at all.

An "experienced sim racer" who says iRacing cars are "way too over complicated to drive".

seems legit.
"-If you are brave enough to race just sit at the back and do CLEAN laps this will boost it alot"

Terrible advice. New racers need to understand this does nothing for them. If you cant cleanly race a rookie class car in a field, then you sure as hell cant race c, b, or a car. Whats the point of floating around in the back and farming SR? so you can get pissed than you suck at racing D class too?

The quality of racing is directly related to your Irating. The higher the better. The only way to get a higher irating is to get good finishes. im sitting at 3300+ IR on both oval/road and i rarely have issues with other drivers.

So you can either:
A: float around farming sr in last place, graduate to D,C,B,A classes, yet still hold a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ irating to were you are grouped with other users with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ irating and crash alot.

B: Learn to race by practice and study, drive defensively, and race hard but consistant for position to build up your IRating, if you crash out youll finish in last place. Only a few less SR than option A.

Which sounds more fun?

to all newcomers do yourself a favor and learn how to "race" while your a rookie and while your working up the ranks. Forget about SR, forget about irating and just have fun learning how to race a car. They will come to you when you aquire the skill. Farming SR only sets you up for failure.

You say you are such an avid sim-racer with so much experience. You have a total of 22 hours on Assetto Corsa. How many hours did you spend in iracing to come to this "highly informed conclusion". 22 hours isn't enough to even scratch the surface on iracing never mind come to a definitive conclusion as to how good it is. I sure hope you spent more time than that in iracing. How about sharing a link to your iracing account so we can see what kind of participant you were there.

OP just got owned and shows how little he actually knows. I've played AC like 1% compared to iRacing, but even I have spent more time on AC than the original poster.

AC is nice, but it is no iRacing that is for sure.
Well when one guy said other titles are "prettier and cheaper" , that tells me we don't want them anyway....lol.

Try suggest to FIA that they ban steering wheel in every car in every class:D They will drive with xBox controller and catch every slide... right ? :D

I can understand that people cry over price of the sim but I spend more on coffe and ciggarets every month than with sub.
My kid plays Fifa and Nba and I pay much more money every year for his games then my iR :D

This is a simulation. Yea...a wheel is something you would need to drive a car I would think.
because buying a wheel is sooooo bad.

Not upset just reviewing. Dont want people to waste there hard earned money. Thought i was being helpful.

"hard earned" considering that the minimum wage is now 9-10 bucks an hour for flipping burgers, i wouldn't call it "hard earned" anymore
Looks like you never race at Race2Play.com thats the best online MP place for race, no the bad people you race with at Iricing, waste of time and money there
Messaggio originale di Zorb:
Finding a decent group of people and racing on public servers is hit or miss on AC and rFactor etc. You have to go through a lot of crap until you find the good.

iRacing has some idiots, but they aren't on the service for too long as they either get bored or banned.

Race2Play is another good place to race for sure, but the quality of racing there was no better than iRacing. I dont know who theses "bad people" are at iRacing. In 130 races i've been knocked off track...... twice.
