Do NOT look at incident points as a punishment. Look at incident points like they are damage points.
No matter how good you are, if someone stupid around you damages your car, you 'll get incident (damage) points.
iRacng is a simulation. It's pretty hard to get into if you treat it like a game. Experience will learn you how to deal with bad drivers, you'll see them coming, you will get a better driver avoiding accidents (no matter if they are your fault or not).
Treat it like it's your IRL car, and you don't want to die. The win is a bonus. It takes some time and some will never be fast, but still can experience that track / racing feeling that comes with a 80% simulator, 20% game.
You need to serve the flags within 3 rounds, or you get disqualified.
