How to Link my iRacing to Steam?

I bought iRacing via the website, but generated a Steam Key to track my playtime and so others see what i'm playing, but when i start the game on steam, the website launches in the browser and that's it, how do i actually link it so iRacing starts when i start it via Steam?

On the iRacing account page you can find a steam key that you can use to link it with steam.

The time-tracking only tracks the time when the simulator is active.

You can't start the simulator through steam. I starts automatically when you join a practice or race session.

The shortcut in steam links to the website. Not to the iRacing UI. You just start the UI from the normal desktop-shortcut. Choose a session you want to join, then join it, and it will show you playing and track hours when the simulator is started.

Where do you link it? Cant find it on the account page. My steam right now tracks the hours, but doesnt show me playing.

In the UI at the bottom left hit settings, then click interface. Scroll down and make sure "use steam overlay" is ticked on.
