If you want more content, you pay a one time fee (per track or car) and can use those as long as you have your subscription. Even if you don't pay a few months and re-subscribe, you will still have that content.
What do I look for when I buy things.
- Tracks that I really want to drive.
- Cars that give me the most flexibility (I can run the most series with)
Allways buy in stacks of 3 or 6 to get an extra percentage off.
In the first 2 year I had iRacing my monthly cost where about 20€ average (due to content I bought). The last 3 seasons I didn't buy anything because I now have enough content to allways find me a fun race.
Another tip:
If iRacing is in maintenance, you can testdrive. BUT make sure you install the full-content (whether you bought it or not), otherwise you cannot testdrive the cars and tracks you do not own. You have to have them installed iirc.
