Lap times?

I'm new and trying to escape rookie road circuits. I know safety rating is more important than position at this stage but i still wonder how people are getting laps a whole 10 seconds faster than me. Even when I feel like I just drove the best lap ever, I see the number 1 guy has a 10 second lead on me.

They might not be rookies then, just drivers with a low rating. Though 10 seconds is a lot on any circuit. Maybe you are just slow, I don't know?

yeah on formula vee on oulton park my best is 1.50 while other ppl are getting 1.40 or 1.42. idk if its in my shifting, or i'm just not taking corners right. Other cars just seem faster as well even though its a fixed series. idk what i'm doing wrong.

Join free practice sessions or just watch some races and switch the camera to one of the faster drivers to see how they drive and take the corners, that should be helpful. You can also talk to them and ask for tips and stuff :)

Ghost racing and following fast guys is a good tool also. But early on just practice, learn the track limits and USE them. Work on your braking and throttle pick up points and you will start to improve. Have Fun!

Look at how others drive, you can easily look at the replays of everyone in a practice session.

Being that slow in a Formula Vee means you are not driving the car like you should (in Vee, you basically only use 3rd and 4th gear, a lot of new players shift the gearbox on a Vee way too often).
