Need to be VERY careful with iRacing
New to sim racing I decided to try a promotion for iRacing. It is a good thing I didn't spend a lot of money. As a brand new racer in iracing I did some testing and entered my FIRST race as a ROOKIE racing along side other ROOKIES. I went into the race trying as hard as possible to get the right times and lines down but was involved in an accident...instead of just leaving like 99% did I went in for repair and came back out to gain some stats. With in 2 laps the leader came around and even though I went so high I scraped the wall to get out of his way he slammed right in the back of me...Now r3emeber I said were all ROOKIES here...not a big deal right ? I finish the race like 7th or something cause I stayed. 3 days later I get an offical email from iRacinfg saying he reported "ME?" o.O and iRacing suspended my account for 1 week...WOW..lol

So it seems its VERY easy to harrass people in iRacing and ruin their NEW experience to the sim and iRacing just by using the reporting tool. Now at $100 a year I m not sure I want to risk money like that on a griefer loop hole like that. Ive since turned off my reoccurring payment and will make a descision soon about if Ill continue with a regular subscription. Too bad because I did think it was fun, but for the rookies and the amount of time we have in the game it seems like iRacing is shooting themselves in the foot here and loosing a lot of subscriptions. They need to investigate those reports a little better. Most likely an employee that didn't wanna take the time to review it.

I guess accidents and confusion aren't allowed even with rookies in their first days. :( The bad part is I didn't even think twice about him smashing right into my rear end up near the wall, but I guess he did....lol

So at $100 for the regular subscription id say BE VERY CAREFUL and decide well on if it's worth it and something you wanna continue with before renewed payment occurs based on your experience in the beginning.

Looking at his name and Steam profile blocked and Level 0, Well I rest my case. Good luck noob hope I see ya in game I'll wreck ya on purpose and get my warning, then join another race.:stockcar:

Had to add this "The whole situation felt very greedy and Nazi like to me, especially for a rookie (newbie). Also they were sending emails almost daily about renewing early cause they have a "great discount right now for LIMITED period." hahha What this means is give me as much money as possible now which you can't get a refund for lol."

IF you ordered Iracing via steam Then you got no emails spamming you. In 2 years I never received an email from Iracing for renewal as well as any other game in my over 200+ steam titles. Another BS in your Rant.
Steam uses a service to log you into Iracing. They send your login as an encoded #, they do not use a email/password login. therefore unless you gave Iracing your email they could not have sent those.

I bought iRacing after a long time watching streams of it. Bought a 2 year subscription and tbh I've been victim of many retarded drivers who don't practice and try to take lines they can't hold and many more things that got me wrecked. I'm not perfect either, I had my moments but of all the reports I made, and I did many, ONLY 1 was successful... iRacing users usually say "why report that totally racing incident to the stewards" in a sarcastic tone because iRacing rarely takes action on reports all they say is that they will keep you checked for more of those incidents.

send me a PM with your iracing name. I can look at your log and see all of the events in your races. Then I can offer some advice tailored to your experience.

In general, the iracing members say 'the job of a rookie is to get out of rookie class.' Once out of rookie class with your higher license you can enter into other series that have better racers.
(speaking from my road side experience this is true, i dont know how it holds up for oval racing)

still waiting for you to send me a PM with your iracing name.

No one will take advice on if a sim is good or not from a beginer

I am an iRacer since 2013. I have never been banned or warned of my driving. I am a clean driver for the most part. iRacing doesn't just throw the ban-hammer around. They require clips of the incident or they won't even consider your protest. So if the OP really was banned, then he must've been the typical rookie complainer. Take it back to Gran Turismo or Forza if you want to drive like a kid. If you decide to grow/man up... Get iRacing.

I have been banned from the forums for egging on Nim but that's about it...

Otherwise, I've been a member since like 2009-2010 and never had an issue. Only had one protest and they were like 'Uh. Yeah. You were dumb but nothing bad"

=/

i think it's nonsense tbh ....
you usually dont even get a email response when / if you try to file a race incident in rookie class cos they realise it is rookie class and that is where the beginners go.
if OP did get temp ban he must have been deliberately trolling others during race.

I didn't save a replay of a race I was in 2 accidents in and finished 7th 3 laps down..lol But the point of my post is were all like just a couple days into racing at this point and iracing is issuing week suspensions to those players/racers...OMG there s going to be tons of wreaks and hot heads... seems like they ruined my experience with such strict policies for people just starting and also shooting themselves in the foot on subscriptions. Most of the people in the starting rookie classes are trying to use their keyboards or game pads at this point before they learn its not going to work well...I certainly expected a lot of wrecks in this stage of the game.

please PM me your iracing name and date/time of your races.

the good thing about iracing is that all driver records are public. so when someone makes a complaint anyone else in the service can verify some or all of statement by viewing race results. This way we can offer specific advice on what happened and how to avoid in future.

same here. I have protested other drivers successfully for intentionally wreck me (case of mistaken identity - guy thought it was my car that wrecked him and he stopped and waited for everyone to come back and then wrecked me). This driver did not get banned or suspended so even a one-off of such childish behaviour may not get you suspended if one has a clean driving record I cannot even conceive of what someone has to do to get banned from the service for life! haha

Does iracing keep a record of all protests or do they drop them after an amount of time?

From my understanding all protests/warnings stay on your record. If you overdo the protesting by protesting everything it's looked at as being just as bad as getting protested. Calling people out and cursing or bad language is not tollerated. Even in the iRcaing forum's if someone starts a whining session they get lined up farely quickly. Even during a race if some get heated and are going at eachother they get asked to drop it or leave. There is no room for acting like a child it's an adult sim,act accordingly.

First rule is to get out of Rookies, racing is better after that, just race, you will have good ones and bad ones but you will learn to judge how to avoid and will gain SR eventually, just do everything you can to get out of Rookies :lid:

Looking at his arguments, other drivers should avoid him ;-)

So true! Exactly what I was thinking.

I've been on iracing for three years and have been banned once for 30 days from racing with others, could still do practice, time trials, my league races, etc, but it was because I intentionally and purposely wrecked a guy over and over again in a carb cup of all things and I'm class A oval and class B road...and that's that. Learn from your mistakes and don't be an ass hat. Iracing isn't counterstrike dude.

lol no one jumped on him, the guy presented a bs story.

From what I read a lot of people jumped on him, and I am in no way wanting to start an argument up, but how do you know it wasn't true? I understand everyone has their own experience with the devs but just because he didn't record it doesn't mean it isn't true or not true ya know?

Just was really put off with hwo the community reacted on this one.

people know it isn't true because a member would never be banned/suspended for what was described, ever. there's absolutely 0 chance that what was described in the OP would result in a ban. so it's either a completely fabricated lie that never happened, or the OP did get banned but is conveniently leaving out the part of the story where they were driving around the track in the wrong direction, smashing into the other racers and taunting them in chat, you know, banworthy behaviors.

you can take the OP at face value (no evidence whatsoever and no profile id provided, just a story that makes no sense), or you can take the words of veterans of the sim who have been willing to give advice and share their iR info and be helpful.

when someone pops in the forum and post obvious BS and real members call that BS out, i wouldn't paint that in the same light as you have. people are passionate about iR and don't like it when others attempt to make it out as something it isn't.
