Need to be VERY careful with iRacing
New to sim racing I decided to try a promotion for iRacing. It is a good thing I didn't spend a lot of money. As a brand new racer in iracing I did some testing and entered my FIRST race as a ROOKIE racing along side other ROOKIES. I went into the race trying as hard as possible to get the right times and lines down but was involved in an accident...instead of just leaving like 99% did I went in for repair and came back out to gain some stats. With in 2 laps the leader came around and even though I went so high I scraped the wall to get out of his way he slammed right in the back of me...Now r3emeber I said were all ROOKIES here...not a big deal right ? I finish the race like 7th or something cause I stayed. 3 days later I get an offical email from iRacinfg saying he reported "ME?" o.O and iRacing suspended my account for 1 week...WOW..lol

So it seems its VERY easy to harrass people in iRacing and ruin their NEW experience to the sim and iRacing just by using the reporting tool. Now at $100 a year I m not sure I want to risk money like that on a griefer loop hole like that. Ive since turned off my reoccurring payment and will make a descision soon about if Ill continue with a regular subscription. Too bad because I did think it was fun, but for the rookies and the amount of time we have in the game it seems like iRacing is shooting themselves in the foot here and loosing a lot of subscriptions. They need to investigate those reports a little better. Most likely an employee that didn't wanna take the time to review it.

I guess accidents and confusion aren't allowed even with rookies in their first days. :( The bad part is I didn't even think twice about him smashing right into my rear end up near the wall, but I guess he did....lol

So at $100 for the regular subscription id say BE VERY CAREFUL and decide well on if it's worth it and something you wanna continue with before renewed payment occurs based on your experience in the beginning.

Relax my friend, I dont know what are you racing (oval? road?) but you need to leave that series asap, I bet you are racing in rookie series on the lowest splits, you need to improve your irating and then climb the series ladder a bit to a more cleaner series, this way you will be racing with more experienced and mature/respectful drivers.

I'm racing the xfinity and the gt3 series and I've never had any problems in there, well sometimes you will find that aggressive crazy driver that wants to kill you, or win the race on the first corner, yeah... I let those guys pass me, they will wreck sooner or later in front of me and I will avoid them. Before I was racing the trucks (craziness at maximum... that's why I’m not there anymore) and the cadillac cup/Spec Ford (amazing both).

Have some patience, let aggressive drivers go and protect your car, also, if you are racing on low splits learn how to be fast and win the pole, if you lead the race from the start the odds of you getting wrecked are reduced and you will have the chance to win some races, that's what I did on the trucks and also on the mazda mx5 rookie cup.

Good luck!

Your first mistake was doing a race before doing a practice session second of all leader has choice of line, you cant force him into the lower line.

This MADE me get iRacing.....Want a realistic sim....Watch for this rookie....lol

You don't get banned for a first time offence, the replay must have shown deliberate wrecking and possible bad language, It's not a permanent ban it's usually a couple of days or a week.
Another bad driver who says it's everyone else's fault he or she can't drive or obey the rules.

5yr+ member here.

Thanks guys for making my decision for me. I cam here because I was interested in buying iRacing, but the way you guys have pounced on this guy relentlessly shows it is more on the side of a toxic community.

Whether he is right, wrong or lying the way you guys have pounced, mocking, insulting and antagonizing is just appauling.

I don't like what I see community wise so I think I will hold off for now.

Iracing have one of the best forums/community on the internet (no the steam forums) full of helpful guys, I've made a lot of friends in there, and if I tell you the truth, that forum is almost as fun as the game itself.

I remember one guy really stick with cancer nedding help because he had no money for the treatment.... well, you know what? a lot of fellow iracers helped the guy with donations (me included) I've never seen something like that on any video game community. And no so long ago another guy nedding help with Facebook likes to meet his favorite singer, well, with our help the guy won the contest.

If you have the money and time, give iracing a try and ignore this toxic forum, all the steam forums are toxic.

We are only jumping on the guy because his post is a lie. If he was being honest then yes, some people would still jump on him but there would also be more of us on his side.

You are also only seeing a very, very small part. Most people don't bother coming here because we already have the iRacing forums on the website, this is mostly full of newer members, idiots (Because it's Steam :steamhappy: ), and then a few old hats who are happy to help out newcomers. (Myself, Kabal, Socks Out, and others)

Places like here and the rookie series will show the worst of iRacing, but the best far outweighs that.

From what I read a lot of people jumped on him, and I am in no way wanting to start an argument up, but how do you know it wasn't true? I understand everyone has their own experience with the devs but just because he didn't record it doesn't mean it isn't true or not true ya know?

Just was really put off with hwo the community reacted on this one.
JoeSpeed Aug 28, 2016 @ 5:35pm
Chris, if it's true he'd be able to present a shred of evidence. I've not seen any.

Again man I really don't want to argue about it, I just know I have been in the situation before where I didn't record something that actually happened and the community jumped on me calling me a liar and its just not right.

Whether he displays anything or nothing shouldn't result in an absolute verdict of "Yeah you are a liar" I just usually see that stuff from toxic communities is all.

I don't know this community so thats why I commented on my impression you guys gave off.
JoeSpeed Aug 28, 2016 @ 5:40pm
Well man it's just facts, that's all. You never ever get banned like that unless you really are guilty. And we know that as iRacers from experience. We can find many, many examples of people who were guilty and it was considered a "Racing incident."

So we're all very aware it takes a major screwup to get banned.
LithiumFox Aug 28, 2016 @ 7:08pm
Yup. I mean, I once got banned from the Forums.

For basically antagonizing Nim. That was my fault for crossing Cross.
