Need to be VERY careful with iRacing

New to sim racing I decided to try a promotion for iRacing. It is a good thing I didn't spend a lot of money. As a brand new racer in iracing I did some testing and entered my FIRST race as a ROOKIE racing along side other ROOKIES. I went into the race trying as hard as possible to get the right times and lines down but was involved in an accident...instead of just leaving like 99% did I went in for repair and came back out to gain some stats. With in 2 laps the leader came around and even though I went so high I scraped the wall to get out of his way he slammed right in the back of me...Now r3emeber I said were all ROOKIES here...not a big deal right ? I finish the race like 7th or something cause I stayed. 3 days later I get an offical email from iRacinfg saying he reported "ME?" o.O and iRacing suspended my account for 1 week...WOW..lol

So it seems its VERY easy to harrass people in iRacing and ruin their NEW experience to the sim and iRacing just by using the reporting tool. Now at $100 a year I m not sure I want to risk money like that on a griefer loop hole like that. Ive since turned off my reoccurring payment and will make a descision soon about if Ill continue with a regular subscription. Too bad because I did think it was fun, but for the rookies and the amount of time we have in the game it seems like iRacing is shooting themselves in the foot here and loosing a lot of subscriptions. They need to investigate those reports a little better. Most likely an employee that didn't wanna take the time to review it.

I guess accidents and confusion aren't allowed even with rookies in their first days. :( The bad part is I didn't even think twice about him smashing right into my rear end up near the wall, but I guess he did....lol

So at $100 for the regular subscription id say BE VERY CAREFUL and decide well on if it's worth it and something you wanna continue with before renewed payment occurs based on your experience in the beginning.

Like I said BE VERY CAREFUL joining iRacing. If you do join:

* Do your homework get a freebie promo code. Mine is actually a freebie year one. I could, if I wished, race for another 11 months, but the experience left a distrust and bad taste.

* If you do actually pay out of pocket ( I see no reason for this promo codes are out there, look hard and get the 1 year ) do not do anything more than the 1 month at first until you make your own decision.

The whole situation felt very greedy and Nazi like to me, especially for a rookie (newbie). Also they were sending emails almost daily about renewing early cause they have a "great discount right now for LIMITED period." hahha What this means is give me as much money as possible now which you can't get a refund for lol.

You don't have to believe this post just BE CAREFUL! and use a freebie promo.

1.- No free codes atm, and there no such thing as a free codes for a entire year, a couple of months ago there were some three months for free, but not anymore

2.- Again, there is no such thing as 1 year for free

3.- Iracing spamming emails? lol, not true, Ive been on the service for almost two years and Ive only recieved like 10 emails from them, updates, deals and promo all of them useful.

judging from his posts I'd say he probably said some stuff in chat that probably contributed to his suspension.

Honestly, this whole thread makes me feel quite a bit better about iracing. Some of us have a good deal of money tied up in this game and it's good to see a developer taking a stand against toxicity within their community. When I first started playing iracing, I quickly noticed that this community is much different from any other I've been a member of. I can think of maybe 3 incidents where I've seen another racer turn into a full on raging 10 year old child, but even then it's usually pretty quickly squashed by a few other racers telling the guy to grow up and mistakes happen.

i been with iracing for a whole year like 200 races plus, i can tell the guy that created this post is full of ♥♥♥♥.
iRacing is prettly lenient on penalties, they pretty much just ban ppl that retaliate wreck others on purpouse and having 100% video proof of the action OR ppl that are extremely toxic in chat/voice (most times just a mute btw)... and you get warnings before you get to the point of getting banned.

You might not like the game by other reasons such a price or content but complaining about iRacing staff ripping you off by banning you for no reason is straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. period.

I'm not perfect either, I had my moments but of all the reports I made, and I did many, ONLY 1 was successful... iRacing users usually say "why report that totally racing incident to the stewards" in a sarcastic tone because iRacing rarely takes action on reports all they say is that they will keep you checked for more of those incidents.

send me a PM with your iracing name. I can look at your log and see all of the events in your races. Then I can offer some advice tailored to your experience.

In general, the iracing members say 'the job of a rookie is to get out of rookie class.' Once out of rookie class with your higher license you can enter into other series that have better racers.
(speaking from my road side experience this is true, i dont know how it holds up for oval racing)
