Need to be VERY careful with iRacing

New to sim racing I decided to try a promotion for iRacing. It is a good thing I didn't spend a lot of money. As a brand new racer in iracing I did some testing and entered my FIRST race as a ROOKIE racing along side other ROOKIES. I went into the race trying as hard as possible to get the right times and lines down but was involved in an accident...instead of just leaving like 99% did I went in for repair and came back out to gain some stats. With in 2 laps the leader came around and even though I went so high I scraped the wall to get out of his way he slammed right in the back of me...Now r3emeber I said were all ROOKIES here...not a big deal right ? I finish the race like 7th or something cause I stayed. 3 days later I get an offical email from iRacinfg saying he reported "ME?" o.O and iRacing suspended my account for 1 week...WOW..lol

So it seems its VERY easy to harrass people in iRacing and ruin their NEW experience to the sim and iRacing just by using the reporting tool. Now at $100 a year I m not sure I want to risk money like that on a griefer loop hole like that. Ive since turned off my reoccurring payment and will make a descision soon about if Ill continue with a regular subscription. Too bad because I did think it was fun, but for the rookies and the amount of time we have in the game it seems like iRacing is shooting themselves in the foot here and loosing a lot of subscriptions. They need to investigate those reports a little better. Most likely an employee that didn't wanna take the time to review it.

I guess accidents and confusion aren't allowed even with rookies in their first days. :( The bad part is I didn't even think twice about him smashing right into my rear end up near the wall, but I guess he did....lol

So at $100 for the regular subscription id say BE VERY CAREFUL and decide well on if it's worth it and something you wanna continue with before renewed payment occurs based on your experience in the beginning.

Wow! this thread is still going? GREAT! Ive turned off auto-renewal. I ll also make sure I tell anyone who will listen that's its a terrible service and don't waste their money. I mean comon. suspending a rookie right after they've joined for hitting someone. I seen a racing site like this about 10 years ago running the NASCAR4 game. They were running it so they (friends) had a place to race and someone else to pay for it all. I even went to a LAN race once put on by them and they called themselves and their friends the CUP room and put everyone else in a different meeting room at the hotel with no investigation as to who were good racers and who was not. It was a friends only room and we wasn't allowed to race in their races. In effect they opened a second room so they could make everyone else pay for the hotel and THEIR meeting room. I m starting to think iRacing is the same and may even be the same people. A place for a group of friends to race and your subscription pays for everything.
And also I didn't get banned I got suspended for a week. But I never went back. Thank God a promotion payed for it.

PROVIDE US WITH THE EXACT DETAILS OR RESULTS FROM THE SESSION YOU FEEL WAS THE REASON YOU GOT SUSPENDED.

Until you do this we won't believe a word you say, as those of us who have some experience will know that Nim doesn't throw out suspensions for no reason. Minor contact that was probably a bit silly would only EVER result in a WARNING. To get suspended just because of one race tells us that you were trying to behave like you were on Forza and win in T1 or driving around the wrong way to wreck people.

The only time I have ever seen a slam-dunk suspension or ban was when a guy intentionally wrecked in a race that was being live-streamed, which Nim happened to be watching. That driver lasted about 30 seconds longer in the session before they were removed by "ADMIN". Until you can provide us with a full and accurate account of the events leading to your suspension then you will be in the same category as that guy.

I've had some horrific crashes. I got DSQ'd from a race for exceeding my allowed x's had 3 crashes along with many off tracks. I guess the guy really made up some crap to get you banned and they could not be arsed to check if he was full of crap or not. If he hit you then you need to report him back.

Also ask to see the replay footage and if they have it post it here so we can see it also, might shed some light.

A mate got banned for driving backwards taking people out. You dont get banned for being a back marker and getting hit from behind. Just dont seem right.

They never ban anyone just on somebody's say-so. They require a replay to review.

The o.p. is full of it. A driver can report you, and say whatever he likes. If he has no replay to back up the complaint, they will not ban you. Period.

Just reading through the OPs comments, sounds like the ban system is working perfectly to me.

Not a word you say even resembles a fact about iRacing , PERIOD , and comming to steam to ♥♥♥♥ on it shows how utterly stun you are. Then Evelworm wants to chim in with more stupidity. Now if the 2 of you want to see and learn about iRacing look at the fourm's in iRacing, It's the most helpfull, thankfull, respectfull fourm I have ever seen , PERIOD , even to the point that if they dissagree their respectfull to eachother. I have been dubious about getting into iRacing, but this thread actually convinced me to get involved. Reading (most of) these postings, it´s clear that iracing members (usually) are dedicated, kind, and that iracing works professional. SO the initial post in this tread kind of backfired for EvilC4... I own a LOT of racing games/sims and right now I am pulling out my creditcard and buying myself a subscribtion to iracing. See you on the track guys.

Way to go Ole :-) I don't think that you will be dissapointed. I am almost a year in iRacing, I will say it's a hugh learning curve, but well worth it. The best advice I can give you to start with is be carefull, while in rookie and even D class don't expect to much, it's rough. The main thing is not to get to racey don't fight like a dog for 15th spot or even 1st the main thing is to be clean. And that means really clean, no contact with ether, racers, the wall, or going off the track. iRacing is all about safety and good driving and points are given or taken accordingly. It's the only way to move up in class level's, how you finish don't matter, until the higher level's. The only other thing I can say is have a wheel, you can race with a gamepad although I would highly recommend not to use one. There is no keyboard and mouse support in iRacing.

Hey don't bash controller users, I made 3.7k iR with one then lost about 700 when I first went to a wheel

And you can use a keyboard and mouse, although it is weird as hell and I can't do it.

But anyway, welcome on in Ole, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I can absolutely recommend that you check out iRacing things on Youtube and Twitch to see just how good it can be, and how bad as well, but you know, the bad stuff is a lot less common than the good.

Thanks guys - I knew I was right to do this - and I DO have a wheel - A Logitech Driving Force GT - and I plan to get a seperate Logitech gearshifter within the week. I am not a complete rookie - have been leisure driving sims/simcades for many years, but just never took the step to getting serious... Now Ill watch a lot of videos from Iracing, and do the three main steps to become good - Practise, practise and practise. :)
