Problem with Steam purchase

I've been an iRacing member since the middle of 2012 and i really enjoyed ther sim during my membership but i had to stop racing in 2014.
Now i wanted to restart my membership and since steam is currently offering a great deal for the 12-months membership i made the purchase and the game was added to my steam library. Afterwards i downloaded it and activated the key that i found at the bottom of my account page in the iRacing website.
The problem is that when i launch the sim a new registration is required and i can't use my usual account.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

standard existing iRacing accounts are unfortunately totally separate from new Steam accounts, all you can do with a Steam account is get it converted to a standard account, and all you can do with a standard account is activate the Steam key so it can track your game time and show that you are on iRacing. It sucks, but Valve have never been totally helpful when it's come to iRacing I'm afraid.

It might be worth trying to email [e-mail], just to see what they say about it, as they may have a solution that can work for you.

i just bought iracing , one month sub via steam, and cant even get past registration page, as soon as i hit agree for EULA it gives me a error 512 any help out there already emailed iracing but will be monday before i hear

I really didn't expect so many problems with steam especially when the iRacing site is always working flawlessly...
Anyway i requested a refund so the next time iRacing discounts his membership i'll buy it directly from their site.

Would be nice if I could use those with my existing steam/iracing account? Don't even know where to add a code to an existing steam subscription??? When I try it in the Iracing shopping cart, it fails...
Did I catch the above right? Can I get my Steam/Iracing account moved to just an iracing account? If so, how?
If I didn't have so much invested in cars and tracks I would just create a new account on iracing.

Just a Follow up, they converted my Steam iracing account to an iracing direct account...Boom done....Good Luck fellows...
