Buying the game through the website VS Steam, any difference?
I purchased the membership from iracing.com since they had a 40% off on a 1 year subscription. Steam was more expensive + you gotta pay $10.99CAD for the game other than the subscription fee. Is there any difference buying the game directly from the website versus getting it from Steam and paying for the game as well as the subscription? I am asking because I find it odd that there are 2 such different methods to acquire this title and it looks like there is no difference in the experience. Can anyone clear my confusion for me please? Thank you!

Btw I think their servers are down, I keep getting 502 Bad Gateway and 504 Gateway Time-Out pages every time I try to access the website for the first time since I just paid for it.

Can't buy cars and tracks though Stream. So you did good with buying from the website.

You're getting 502/504 pages because Iracing has been updated today (Le Mans, HTC support....) and everyone is updating or/and purchasing content and servers may be a bit flooded.

@KingMaddog is right and best deals such as Black Friday are website only if I'm not wrong. You can get a Steam key from the website if you go to your account, add it and have Steam overlay.

PD: Welcome to Iracing :steamhappy:

So glad I made the right choice, thank you for clearing it up. All I gotta do to be an equal part of Steam is to link my account then.

I am currently downloading 6.74 GB worth of updates, I am new so I guess I need to get some packages most of you already have. It dropped to a couple Bytes/Sec but then went back up to 2-5mbps. My regular download speed should be over 17mbps though.

You actually can buy cars / tracks and pay with a steamaccount.

Just wondering if the thinking is still the same.
I got a cheap 1 month on Steam but iRacing website seems to be cheaper.

-Is there any advantage to buying on Steam?
For gaming I only use steam (I don't use other game-stores, because everything I want to play is on Steam) and find it convenient to be able to pay with steam, track my hours, and keep my gaming in 1 place.
