IRacing worth it?
Hello Steam community!

I got a question. I play F1 2020 on my PS5. Getting tired of the carreer mode. Trying ranked online. But that is Bumpercar sim on a circuit.... annoying. Saw Lando Norris play this game. But is it worth the price etc? I play around 8 hours a week racing games with an logitech G29.

Been watching a lot of vids etc but I still dont know if it will be worth it!

Thanks for your opinion!

Yeah it is, plenty of series to drive in and there are always races going on. I drive a lot in the different Formula series and the cars are cool and challenging to drive with. It takes like a real effort to be fast in iRacing :)

Make sure you research it fully. It will turn expensive if you want to go far, as in other series and cars. Know what youre getting into before the plunge.

I'd recommend jumping into Assetto Corsa/AC Competizione first before iRacing. iRacing gets fairly expensive, specially if you don't have a focus on what you want to race, as the review spammer above me pointed out.

If what you are looking for is an organized form of racing (championship) where you race against other people that won't try to wreck you on purpose, you don't want to be locked into racing in a league and you can afford it, then it's worth it.

Championships run for 12 weeks and each week there's a different track. You can race any time as most series will have a race every hour or two.

There is a license progression and some series will be locked until you attain the appropriate license. There is also a safety rating system that reflects how clean you drive. To progress to a new license you will need to have a certain safety rating in addition to participation. If your safety rating drops bellow a certain level you could be demoted to a lower license class. There is also a system for reporting other drivers for intentional wrecks or not following the Code of Conduct. All this keeps the racing pretty clean although turn 1 wrecks still happen and overly aggressive drivers will still cause a crash on occasion.

In addition to the subscription, once you get out of the rookie class you may want to buy additional tracks or cars which is an added expense. If you buy several tracks or cars at once you will get a discount (3+ - 10%, 6+ 20%)

If this sounds like what you're looking for then it's worth it.

I would say yes. Its not cheap, its rather expensive. I love the online system and the "new" AI is the best out there (makes mistakes, is fighting, is fair) and they make it even better from patch to patch.

NO, but the greatest problem is the programmed b.u.ll.s.h.i.t named Saftey Rating.

Its best in getting to race vs people. Worst for price. ACC is there also.

ur gonna want both ACC and iRacing imo OH and mayB the first AC hehe

seriously tho...there are reasons to drive both and all 3

AC is great for track day, drifting, leagues, and future moddable content and just hopping in to explore the amount of cars and tracks possible...the AI is lacking but mayB a mod fixes that

ACC is regarded as top GT3-4 sim and imo is one of if not the best options...the series isnt as expansive as other titles but what it does it does better than most....the abs, TC, and overall drive ability of the cars allows people to drive em on the limit thus u can get some incredible close racing....cars are durable vs a sim like iRacing so a bump here or there or rubbing doors doesnt kill either person or end with revenge/major loss of rating

iRacing however is where the big boys play...the ffb is some of the best imo with curbs and abs really feeling nice (g920)...cars are varied and feel quite different with some being very easy to push and others requiring a steep learning curve...often crashes end with arguments in voip as losing safety rating can restrict access to content the user paid to access thus emotions are high....if u dont wanna practice alot, race from cockpit, wait for a series/track/car combo to come around or have extra $ then ACC is gonna b it imo

BUT if MP racing is what ur after and structure thas gonna make people behave then go iRacing...they will ban an intentional wrecker

Yes, but it gets VERY expensive. After getting out of rookies (the MX5), pick a car and stick with it for a while as you pick tracks that you're interested in according to schedule, cheapest way to invest in the game.

So what's your issue with it?

Been with the program since 2008. So, i would say,its worth it. You need to buy stuff in game, but i don't mind strangely enough.

The money sinkhole is not the game. It is the racing rig you keep upgrading. :)

Pay for a month and check it out. I myself had issues with trolling early on in the low end class, with more advanced drivers taking people out in the last couple of laps.

Really enjoyed playing it, but it quickly became too expensive to justify.

Try one month and see if you like how the service is ran. I made that mistake of only buying 1 month and the good deals were around 1 year signups. You also get ~$10 per 3 months if you're racing in a couple series to use on content or subscription.
Cioffi 24 ABR 2023 a las 9:32 a. m.
100% worth it
Jason Cooper 26 ABR 2023 a las 3:42 p. m.
I hate the fact i never own the content no offline without a subscription, so actually leasing is a better term.
IR has the best multiplayer. But you will always get some flogs in online events in any multiplayer sim/game.
Would 100% try RFACTOR2 over ACC & AC.
Honestly like ppl have said give it a month and you will know if its for you, in that time don't buy just race.

Seeing as you have a PS5 I would go with GT7. Lots of good scheduled online racing for free plus a huge offline game. If you can cut through the what is a sim and what is a simcade nonsense I would go for that. If you have PSVR2 even better. I am toying with giving Iracing another go just for a change but I know I wont last long because its so expensive.
