Can't Renew through Steam?

I bought my original subscription through Steam. It lapsed a while ago, and now I'm trying to renew it. I log into the iRacing site using the Steam option and get a message saying I need to renew my subscription to proceed. When I click that link, it takes me to Steam. I add the subscription option I want to my cart and click purchase, then I get this error message, and it won't let me complete the sale.

"Your purchase could not be completed because it looks like you already own one of the games you are trying to buy. Please check your account and your cart to verify you are buying an item you do not already own."

How am I supposed to renew?

Also having issues. Went to resub and nothing goes into cart. I went to site and tried to log in with steam and it didnt actually log in. It kicked me to site sign in and wanted me to reset password. Something doesnt seem right. Dont want to reset password then it would screw up steam sign in

I figured it out. It's been a while, and forgot that you do it through your iRacing account. Login, and go to your account settings. There's a subscription link there. Just click edit and then select your billing preference. It'll renew the subscription in a minute or two, and then you're good.

i dont see that option in my account settings and buying a month thro steam removes the 12.99 option and changes it to 9.99 saying ive bought this before or already own it

Sorry. I told you wrong thing. If you purchased it through Steam, you need to login to Steam and click on the your user name in the top right. From there, select "Account Details" and on that page, in the "Purchase History" section, you'll see a link to "Manage Subscriptions". It should be showing at least one. Click into that, and that's where you'll find the "Edit" button to select a new subscription option.

Sorry for the confusion. My first reply was from memory, and I thought I had found that in the iRacing site.

the only "manage" links i see are email pref, phone number, steam guard, family library, and family view

Yes. This is if you're subscription was done through Steam. Otherwise, I assume you would do it through iRacing.

ikr but i have steam $ :( i dunno why it shows the normal price of 12.99 for a month but then changes to 9.99 saying i own it already and its gift only at that point

The Steam store page offers subscription discounts up to 29%. I assume, the $9.99 you see in the cart is a one-time discount off the normal $12.99/month. Like Haiden suggested, try the "manage subscriptions" option on your Steam "Account Details" page. Clicking "read more" on the iRacing store page reveals this note:

SOLVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took me half hour, the key to getting steam to renew is going into account details , then manage iracing subscription, once you get to the part that wants you to pick 4 options, click cancel subscription, reload page go back in and pick whatever subscription you want then click add to cart , u will get back to that screen that says processing but this time it will work. Basically the key is to cancel subscription and then add package again.

I have tried this and for whatever reason it just tells me my next billing date even though Iracing member site says i need to renew it.... When i try to login through ui it just says authentication failure?
