Controller settings!
I've noticed a few people are curious on what the best settings are for controller for iRacing and found little to no results, so I figured I'd share mine that work beautifully. Yes, I know a wheel is better in every way, no denying that, but people without $200+ to spend on a wheel need an alternative, hopefully with experience using it though.

MY settings that I've noticed help quite a bit are as follows:

STEERING: Wheel range - 60
Map range - 242

BRAKES: 5.00 (this is NOT what I recommend, haven't tested it as much)

TILT DRIVING: 5

CONTROL ASSIGNMENTS: Center Dead Zone - 0.05

DRIVING AIDS: Shift Aid - Auto Clutch

Again I know a wheel is better in every aspect, but I wanted to help those that might need it, these again are all MY preference so don't expect them to be perfect for you, test and fool around to see what you like, took me weeks to perfect mine to my liking! I hope this helps in some way and if you have questions feel free to ask, I'll help as much as I can. Have a great day!

Cheapest I've seen around me is $120, and that's off Craigslist. :(

Just saying, realistic physics and controllers don't mix well. I've watched controller racers be completely fine during the beginning of a race, but once your tires wear down you're toast. You need the small adjustments and feel of grip that only a wheel is gonna give you. You're better off with any other simcade if you don't wanna sink money into a wheel.

You have to switch to forza. That arcade racer is made for controller playing. A simulation like iracing you should feel, which isnt possible with a controller

Hi guys, ex-controller user here, I had no problem winning races, even quite long ones. So whilst yes, you should always be looking to move to a wheel, there's no reason someone can't use a controller in the meantime. :steamhappy:

EXACTLY!

Seriously, there's no point to invest money in a simulator like this if you don't have a wheel. And I will call bs on the "no problem winning races with a controller".

Thats not BS.

That has been the case since forever.

People with a controller do win races, they just have to practisch differently then your wheel user who has it much more easyer.

I'll happily give you my iracing profile to show you how wrong you are lol. It's really not that hard.

My team has actually had 3 of us using controllers and being very successful. James King, Craig A Williams, and Simeon Lynch. All controller users at some point, all at least 3.5k iR, with Simeon being over 5k.

Yeah, I wouldn't doubt you can do well with a controller, but I would not expect to see anyone in upper A class or above using one.
