In some cars, with the driver arms turned on, the wheel animation will stop at 90 degrees (the Lotus 79, for example. The steering will continue past that point, but the wheel turning animation stops. They are in the process of redoing the animations for the cars, and at some point they will have updated all of them, presumably. If this bothers you, (and it does bother me), turn drivers arms off, and leave the wheel on in graphics settings. Then you will see the wheel rotate to full lock.

Most of the cars have around 540 degrees rotaion, some more, some a little less.

Set your wheel software or profiler to 900 degrees, or 1080 if the wheel supports it, then calibrate the wheel in the game. If you do that correctly, the in game wheel will move exactly as your controller wheel moves, no more, no less. iRacing will then automatically set the proper degrees of rotation for each car, and the lock will be where it is supposed to be in that car.

If you have an older 180 degree or 270 degree wheel, all that goes out the window.

Check your setting when you are on track. You can have diffrent setting for diffrent cars, so it might be that your wheel isn't set up the correct way. Same goes for your throttle, which could explain your straight line speed.

Oh and just because you race for 20 years doesn't mean you are fast, compair their exit, apex speed, line... with your own.
fast exit = more straight line speed

IRacing takes a lot to master everything else does not really compare.

Some cars have turning limit of 18 degrees. The wheel is mapped to 90' this can be adjusted.

Advice
There is always someone faster then you, thats good you can still learn more.

Try google for ispeed. Very useful app.

There are no mods in iracing, only better techniques. Setups are important but technique is more important.

Be humble, you don't know what you dont know, look for clues.

Study hard

Practice often

Check list
Throttle modulation
Left foot braking
Heel and toe
Trail braking
Correct line, the real one
Brake hard on, easy off
Play with early apex late apex depending on track layout.

I like to think every track is like a puzzle to be solved, each corner must be assessed, considered and a determination on how it applies to the overall solution.
