I had sworn never to go back to a monthly fee game after playing such games in the nineties, but as you can read in another post of mine, I am just enjoying iRacing too much not to accept the admission.
Is it P2W?
Maybe at some level it is because you’ll need to buy cars and especially tracks to compete at the highest levels, but if you want to race and have fun, you can go a very long way with the standard car and track set. You’ll still have a great competition and that is enough for many if not most.
Personally I would not use Steam for iRacing, that’s all.
So fine that you don’t like iRacing and even fine if you try to warn people, but why the hate? There are plenty of racing games out there, enjoy.
There are a lot of wrongs in the world, but between a game that is clear that it requires a service fee, clearly sells cars and tracks on the one side and premium games that sell for Eur 60,- only to offer loot boxes and micro transactions, support for as long as the game sells (or not even that) and MP until they switch off the servers - I’d rather buy the more honest product.
Again, there are good alternatives like AMS, AC and rFactor 2, even PCars 2 - or a game that positions itself in the middle like Raceroom (free to play, but you buy tracks and cars).
You keep saying HAVE TO, but you don’t have to do anything.
It is a free world, so it is your right to rant, but not everyone feels like you.
Just take that in consideration.
There is only one thing that really irritates me with iRacing, always has. You cannot use your additional content - not even for solo training - if you do not have an active subscription - so basically you own nothing, unless you pay your fee.
Again, there were many games like iRacing in the 90-ies that required a subscription for playing online. Air Warrior, Confirmed Kill, War Birds, Ace High etc. CK and WB I played for years, AH a little - got a free subscription, so that doesn’t really count. You did not have to buy the aircraft though.
So not a new, but actually a pretty old concept.
...PS I was on a week long trip with my family of 5 people, going out to dinner and sometimes lunch cost me c. EUR 1300,- total and although it was good food it was nothing fancy. Now there are a lot of people who have to be careful to pay all their bills for a month with less than that, even in the developed world (let alone less developed). But if you do not have money to pay your bills, you should not be playing these sort of games.
This is all a luxury problem, not worth ranting about.
How do you complete a multiplayer racing game?
Luxury PROBLEM.
Not something like being hungry or not being able to pay your rent.
it can be defined as a "pay to play" but definitly can't be a "pay to win" since every car are the same. if it was a pay to win you could buy some "power boost" or thing like that...
Peaple are so dumb sometimes ^^
And overall, people have same performing cars, so you just pay to be able to play, and then try to win. For example, IMSA series, all these cars are in one race but there are 3 different P1's: One for each car class.
-----
BMW M8 GTE
Porsche 911 RSR GTE
Ferrari 488 GTE
AMG GT3
Audi R8 GT3
Dallara Corvette DP
-----
The DP is the fastest car class. They compete for P1 within their own class.
The Audi R8 and AMG are the slowest cars of IMSA. They compete for P1 of their cars.
They perform roughly the same, only for R8 you need alot more skill to drive it fast. But when you master it, its a bit better, but its more like practice wins.
GTE is the 2nd fastest class. Again, they compete for P1 of their own class.
None of them are faster than the other, you dont win just because you use the Porsche for example. Its just as fast as the others, theyre just different to drive.
As i said, its really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ expensive. But pay to WIN? No.
It sucks that its expensive, but the fact that its expensive is a good thing - if somebody spends alot on this game, like you are going to do if youre going to race alot, you will not want to wreck others on purpose, because you wouldnt want to throw that money into the trash, would you?
1x car
4x track per month, 3x months
3 month subscription
You can race the series online until you see blue in the face...
Not cheap, but it is like 1x new Premium game per month.
Apart from the fact that you cannot play with your content without subscription, IMO the actual cost does not appear to be excessive.
Some series are 100% covered by the subscription - car + tracks - some are a mix. The more tracks you have collected, the fewer you’ll have to buy to run the full series next season you’ll run, or even none.
3-5 items 10% (minimal 3 items)
6+ items 15% (easy if you follow a season)
40 items 20% (an option if you have deep pockets)
Once you reach 40 paid items you get a permanent 20% discount.
Subscription fees also come in various discounts.
Certainly noticeable when racing in any series, even the rookie classes, that people take care not to hit each other, no dive bombing, no suicide drives and no revenge take outs. Of course not saying that it cannot happen, but it is rare.
I really think it is one of the best racers in VR.
im sorry you are the dumbest person i have ever seen. this SIMULATOR is not pay to win at all dont know what the ♥♥♥♥ your talking about. there are no speical cars that you can buy that make you a god and that ur car has more power ect ect. yes certain series use multi cars and there are cars that have a tiny bit more hp then the other but your not adding in all the other stuff like the weight drag size ect. like Iracing states this is a Physic based simulator set up as real as it can get. also in the rookie level area are tons of series that you can do with cars and tracks that already come with the subscription your paying for. and if you done your research on Iracing they do a lot more to make the sim more realistic then what most gaming companies out there do. for godsake they Laser scan the tracks and cars and even use CAD software. and i have a full wheel setup from logitech and i played other sims and Forza and nothing on the market comes close to what iracing can do and offer. yea it cost money to move up to other series but you have to remember getting license and using those equipment to get you those cars and tracks are not cheap by any standard. also i know you wont believe me on this but because of iracing my driving in real life has greatly improved because i run a full wheel,pedal,6 speed shifter,VR setup and have the iracing force feedback and other wheel settings perfectly mimicing how my 2018 Dodge Charger RT wheel would feel in sport mode and yea i make that heavy ass boat hual ass in the canyons. also Iracing took the number 1 fastest racer from their simulator had put him in a real race car on a track that he drove on iracing and had near same time as he did in the simulator and we talking about a guy making over $100K+ a year competing at pro level on iracing and other sims goes by the nickname Alien. search iracing alien.
and this is coming from a guy who been playing since 2017. and both oval and dirt oval are C class and own more then 50 pieces of tracks and cars.
p.s yes it a investment but the tracks are cross compatible with certain series so it not like your double buying the tracks or cars. plus when you own more then 40 pieces of content you get perma 20% off when buying future tracks and cars that come out
