I stayed below 2000 for 2 years because I run to make a good result and not to avoid being crushed by idiots who take themselves for Senna (and there is a lot on iracing that masters much better the accelerator than the brake when it rolls in a compact pack!)
to go up to 4500, I mostly had to run by paying more attention to others rather than my own car to at least finish the race!
the last serie where I really wanted to make a good result on the 12 weeks was during the contest mazda cup where there was the stage to win for barcelona and I finished in the first 25 but for that, my irating has strongly to go down because of countless times when I was put out of action during a crash when the race was intense!
the irating can sometimes be a good indication of the level of a driver but not necessarily!
The battle for 5th place is just as intense as the battle for 1st- that's the beautiful thing about iRacing. The sim doesn't adjust to your skill levels- the players do.
Oh ok. So does the tip not apply to you then? Regardless if you're trying to get out of rookie or increase your iRating, you're going to want to do the same things I mentioned.
personnally i don't really care to SR , i was in class A after few month but the irating was really different, i don't remember how many times i was in need to let pass a guy , because he was really to much dangerous and i prefer ensure for not lose irating because it finish always by a crash if i resist a lil to the driver
at the end my last solution for have clean race and have higher irating was to start first and make all the race alone lol
Yea- qualifying first and running ahead of everyone is the absolute best solution to both problems, but there are a lot of quick people out there.
If you're just starting out or you just aren't as fast though, you'll have to drive defensively with the pack. Most wrecks seem to occur at the beginning of the race- people get excited/anxious and they make a lot of stupid mistakes. Many of those people don't know how to race WITH other cars as well (ie: holding their line, leaving space, etc.). I'm usually quick enough to where I can let the crazies go ahead of me for the first few laps- then once the cars thin out and we're not all bunched up- I can go 1 on 1 with him and regain my position if I'm quick enough.
There are situations where the dummies can really ruin a good race for you and your iRating and SR take a huge hit. But it happens in real life races as well- and to me, it's still better than any other ranking system that I've played with in the other sims.
Plus A License after a couple weeks? post ur Iracing name ur full of ♥♥♥♥.
For the most part, none of this has been my personal experience, however I've been out of the community for a few months due to major life changes.
Honestly, I disagree about your opinions but don't disagree with your experiences, because only you can tell us what you've been through. Sorry to hear that the case. Ultimately, I think iRacing provides an excellent service so long as you actively seek it instead of expecting it to be handed to you. Often most arguments and heated discussions can be headed off with a calm demeanor. Reporting people helps too.
And, I hate to say this, learn to predict other drivers. It takes a while but honestly you can tell who's gonna dive bomb you and who can hold their line pretty easily.
:) Anyways, hope you come back sometime. I always enjoyed the racing here and we need more people who see the faults in the community, not less. No point in being upset if you left on my end.
Enjoy your weekend!
