iRacing in SteamVR on Oculus Rift
So Ive ran iRacing in both Oculus SDK and SteamVR with the Rift, I noticed a distortion effect in SteamVR that is really sickening. Is there a setting to have SteamVR not have this distortion. Its kinda like a fisheye effect

Ive included a video that was posted on youtube for Elite Dangerous that shows this distortion.

And that is why I'm waiting to go the VR route.

There is no problem with Oculus in iRacing. Ive ran several races using it. But in order to run OVRdrop and iRacing together I have to use SteamVR and in there is a small problem.

The screen door effect is a problem at this point, in my opinion anyway.

Kasper, at least to try it out, I too have purchased OVRdrop - to try and run JRT / Z1 / iSpeed in iRacing - how do you get iracing to start in SteamVR? Cant seem to get the windows up and running. as soon as I start a session, the windows i create in OVRdrop disappear... help!

if you did not edit you iRacing app.ini file to auto launch oculus, when the game starts it should ask if you wanna use oculus rift. Click no and then it wll ask if you wanna use openVR click yes.

got it working at least - but now to figure out how to get more than one window up.....and of course that distortion - so sickening.... soo close and yet so far....

I don't notice anything? What is the distortion? Why do you click no to opening up "If you want to use Oclulus?" Whats the difference between that and OpenVR?

I just click yes and put my Oculus on. Everything looks ok to me?

Like Barricade says, when the game starts and asks you if you want to use the detected Oculus Rift, click yes. Zero distortion. You get distortion from using open VR

OVRdrop only works through OpenVR, hence my comment to Kasper, as he has eluded to too. Yes it's fine through OR but then I cannot run OVRdrop....

Any update on this? I've been running iRacing through the Rift and now since I started streaming I need to get iRacing running on OpenVR but I'm getting the same wobbly-distortion that the OP posted in their video.

I am unable to get OpenVR to work on the Oculus. iRacing just doesnt want to pop up.

OpenVR and OVRdrop are no longer needed to be able to pin apps to within VR. The Oculus Home Beta allows you to do all those functions now. Go to your Oculus settings and join the Public beta channel to get started. :steamhappy:

When I activate Beta mode it gets locked up at the loading screen inside the headset while loading iracing. Any help?

If you are on Nvidia, try uninstalling your display drivers and going to a slightly older version, I think 388.71 is the best one to use. A lot of people have been having difficulties with the newer ones, myself included.
