iRacing VR
I am new to Steam and am interested in trying iRacing with Vive. I noticed that the description said that a Keyboard and Mouse is required to play this. Does that mean that I can't use a steering wheel/peddles with this? Thanks for any replies.

A wheel and pedals is the prefered method of driving, ofcourse. It is possible to drive with a mouse and KB, although I think very few people actually do so.

So you can get an idea of what iRacing in VR is like, here is a race I ran in the Lotus 79 at Road America two weeks ago. This is the left eye output from my rift, cropped by the sim to a 16:9 format

BTW, for most people, it is cheaper and easier to join iRacing through the iRacing website, rather than Steam. You can get a Steam key generated from iRacing, if you want the Steam overlay and you want your playing time tracked here...

Mind that iRacing is a simulator, much in the vein of FSX or DCS, which like those sims, tend to be a bit more costly. (plus iRacing hosts all their own servers so that kinda also adds to the cost. But hey, we've gotten a lot of development over the years so I'm not gonna complain. It's kinda nice to have a game for 10 years that's completely different. Oh can I mention it's 10 years old and isn't at all like it was when I signed up?)

Because iracing is a proper racing sim, you should get a steering wheel and pedals. Using a kb and mouse is like driving a normal car with kb and mouse.. Not going to end well :)

As for the VR part, I got my rift 2 days ago and was racing iracing for a while before. The transition to VR is amazing. Compared to playing on my 24" screen, the track is so much bigger and it's so much easier to estimate distances, drive in traffic and so on.

Once you go VR, you never want to go back :)

iRacing is like any other sim.

Except is sims more. My favorite example involves the weight shift based on transmission rotation. Such fun when you get some airtime
